A man stands at a threshold between dimensions. His duties lay ahead of him, his family is left behind. Thirteen years ago he left his home, hoping to forge his own path- his own destiny. Now at the foot of a swirling blue vortex it seems fate has caught up to him, demanding he comply. His blue eyes flicker, revealing white bio-luminescent irises in their stead. He sighs, takes a deep breath, and walks forwards.

Twenty kilometers away, a woman in her early thirties stirs in her sleep. She wakes up. Thinking it might be one of her children she reaches to tap her husband awake, she touches nothing but air. Panicking she turns to face where he spouse should be. There, on his pillow, in a slip of paper. She grabs at it, thinking it might be a ransom note. It is not. It states he must leave, that he has other duties. The woman wonders what could be more important than their home, their family. The bewilderment is quickly replaced with bitterness as she realizes that she is now alone.

The man is spat out in a forest. It is familiar but forgotten. The birch trees loom over him, the moon bright and full above. He hasn't been here in ages. He is smoothing down his brown hair when a tall, black being with glowing indigo eyes approaches. "S-sir?" It asks with a warbled voice, surprised by its master's sudden appearance. "Is that you?" The man looks up "No it's just some other random person that fell out of the fabric or time and space." He replies sarcastically. The being is surprised with his comeback "My apologies Herobrine." It says, obviously flustered. Quieter, it adds "It happens more often than you would think."

Herobrine smirks, having forgotten the amusement he gets from his subjects. "It's quite alright. Now if you don't mind I'd like to sleep." The being is shocked. "A-all right." It says, scooping Herobrine up and teleporting to his room.

"Y-you can sleep here. Your room is a bit dusty." It says. "Why thank you... er I never got your name." Herobrine states. "T-thane. Sir. You can call me Thane." Herobrine smiled at Thane and closed his eyes. Now with his head cleared he began to wonder about the fate of his family.
