Beginnings
Notes: I was planning on taking up a 100 fic challenge and claiming the Ninth Doctor, but at the moment I'm reluctant to get into LiveJournal. And all that jazz. So, I'm going to post a few of the drabbles I've already written, and maybe some more if I write any in the future. Then perhaps I can judge whether I should post them on LiveJournal by the response I get here. I dunno. They're on my computer, I want feedback. Let's leave it there.
Prompt: Beginnings
Claim: Ninth Doctor
Rating: K. It's a tame one, this. Just a little drabble.
Spoilers: None whatsoever! Aren't I a good girl?
Disclaimer: Should I do a disclaimer? I never usually do, but they seem to be all the rage at the moment…ahhh, I remember the heady days of youth and telling everyone how much I didn't own Pokemon or Buffy. Or both. Anyway, you can all rest assured that if I owned Doctor Who in any way, I wouldn't be writing about it, I'd be running around in the streets shouting about it.

Who can forget the beginning of a relationship? Those awkward silences. The way you feel embarrassed at the slightest thing. And all those things to discover about the other person, their little habits and tendencies. Everything's new and exciting and somehow very nerve wracking.
Not that he'd ever been nervous before of a new companion. He had always been very confident, sometimes overly so. He picked people up and twirled them around the Universe in a chaotic merry dance, until they let go or he promptly dropped them.
She made him feel like a college boy at his first dance. That was new as well.
She kept giving him little glances. Sometimes she would gaze at the console or the Time Rotor and completely avoid his gaze, looking as awkward as he felt. At other time she would fix him with a stare, watching his every move like she was entranced.
It was a good feeling to be watched like that. That was something he'd missed.
But the little glances in between, little looks that were half shy, half flirtatious…they really disarmed him. He'd find himself gaping back, or grinning stupidly, or stuttering, or stopping mid--
There it was again. Little glances.
This wasn't like any other beginning. Already he found himself treasuring it, and the little glances to come.
