I woke up screaming, I clawed at my chest before realized someone's hands were on my arms. I woke up in hysterics and flailing, I pushed myself away and my back into the headboard.

"Ren!" Nat held onto my wrists. "You're okay, you're okay!" Steve, Tony, and Thor came in along with Bruce and Klint afterwards.

I breathed in deeply, I ran a hand through my dark hair before Natasha wrapped her arms around me. I willed my heart to slow before the tears came, she comforted me before I felt a large hand in my back rubbing small soothing circles. Natasha's scent filled my nose and it calmed my nerves. I pulled myself together and pulled away from her, wiping my eyes Bruce handed me a box of tissues.

I smiled at him, and took the box, "Thank you," He nodded. Blowing my nose I threw out the tissue before glancing up at the team, "Sorry, I woke you. I didn't mean too," I stood up before my knees gave out but I held onto the dresser beside me.

"Are you okay?" Tony asked.

"Yeah, I just got up to fast," That was a lie, I needed the shot.

"Do you need a glass of water? I'll go get you one?" Nat asked.

"No, I can get it. I need fresh air anyways," They went back to their respective quarters as I went out to the kitchen and living room.

'"Renie! Ren, come play with us!" Sarah yelled my name, her brown hair blew lightly behind her and she ran up to me.

"Come on," She pulled on my wrist to at least nudge me to follow her.

"I can't, Sarah," I began walking away. "I got a mission," I turned to walk backwards and held up a venilla file.

"Oh, next time then! Be safe!" She called.

"Always am!" I called back.'

Well, that time I was wrong, Sarah... I'm sorry I couldn't save you. I looked up at the sky, then back down at my hands. I hugged before leaning my side against the metal railing. I glanced up to see Steve lean against the railing and look up at the sky.

"It's beautiful out tonight," He murmured.

I watched his face before leaning both forearms against the railing, I gazed up at the sky. "Yeah, it is," I sighed before looking at my hands again.

"Ren?" I looked at him.

"Steve?" He smiled.

"What was your nightmare about?" He asked, gazing into my eyes.

I let out a sharp breath, "I'm really not in the mood to talk about it. I kinda just wanna forget about it so I can at least get some sleep," I walked inside.

Steve grabbed my shoulder firmly but gently, "Isarenity, you know you can tell me anything."

"Steve, really, it's fine," I pulled away.

"But it's not," I stopped. "I know it's not, I can see it in your eyes. I've seen such fear and sorrow before from you, Ren, I've known you long enough to know. It's not just fine," He stopped a few feet in front of me.

The pain in my chest ached, I needed to stop pushing him away, for the sake of the team and the future generations of the Guardians. "You're right," I sighed and I was going to tell him but then there was an explosion. We flew back and my head hit against the floor.

I groaned and then someone grabbed me by my throat and lifted me up. My eyes fluttered open and a huge pound in my head hit my eyes, I groaned at the pain. I could smell blood. Steve.

"Well well well, Isarenity, I found you," My eyes focused on the man in front of me.

"Isarenity, no," My ears picked up Steve's voice easily, it was in pain and his heartbeat quicken when adrenaline was being produced.

"You found a mate," The man in front of me sneered. "This will be fun, it makes you weak," I growled and then I kicked him in the chest my eyes glowing bright.

I landed on my feet after doing a back flip mid air, I landed beside Steve. I crouched to lounge at Gale. Steve groaned as he stood up, he quickly recovered, the team came out of their quarters. Gale stood up with the red haze in his eyes flaring wildly, I glared back at him with my eyes flaring like flames.

He snarled his canines sharp and the muscles in his body bulging in rage. Mine did the same in defense, he lounged at me. His arms around my waist and mine on his back as he continued to shove me into the furniture. The team got ready to fight back when I stopped moving and the marble floor coming apart under my feet. My haze spread throughout my body and with a sharp upper cut, Gale flew into the counters.

"I am no weakling," My voice rang with power and determination. "I am the greatest decent of the Great Alpha, and finding your mate makes you stronger," My body flared with golden flames.

"We'll see about that," He held up a handgun and then the two shots rang in my ears.

Everything went into slow motion.

"Gale! No!"

I screamed as I lounged at Steve to take the shots, only to be too a second late. I did collid into him to hold Gales fist from shattering Steve's chest, I yelled and then my power slithered into Gales arms. He growled in pain and my force burn him from the outside in before disappearing into red mist. I sat forward panting then I whipped around to Steve, I gasped at the blood pooling around him.

"No, no, no…" Swiping my hand over his stomach and torso the bullets came out in fluid motion before I threw them to the floor. Making signs and symbols over his body and collecting my power I smacked it into his chest.

"What the hell was that?" Tony asked astonished.

"Black magic," Thor shivered.

"No magic," I grunted. "I just transferred my Guardian serum into him," I groaned before I laid down next to Steve. "You know how I'm able to heal really fast and everything," They nodded. "He has it all," My eyelids drooped.

"What does that mean?" Klint asked.

"He'll live," Bruce replied, they all relaxed. "But she won't," Then their was a gasp before Steve shot straight up.

Everyone was gazing at me, I was gazing up at Steve, my vision was fading.

"Ren?" He put a hand on my arm. "Isarenity?" His hand came to my pulse, "What happened?"

"She gave her life up for yours," Tony replied a bit sorrowful and guilty.

"No!" Steve breathed. "Ren, You can't do this to me," Putting a hand on his bicep, it calmed him before putting him in hysterics.

"This is what we do," I murmured. Everyone surrounded me and got close, "We give up our lives for our mates, you were mine, I gave up mine for you."

"No, Isarenity!" Steve put his hands on my shoulders. "No, you can't! Don't you dare close those eyes!" He brought his hands to my cheeks, "Please don't leave me."

I wiped the tears he shed, he was surprised, "I will always be here."

Making a dance with my hand a golden sphere was produced, I winced as everything was transferred into the ball. I hissed when a needle was stabbed into my arm, I glanced over and seen Nat pushed the liquid into my arm. My hand stopped and the golden haze was sucked back into my body. I could feel the serum ran hot in my veins, my eyes closed as the serum built and repaired my body.

I groaned and my eyes opened to adjust to the darkness, I felt tired and cold. I made out the shapes and details off the room, my ears adjusted to the silence. The rain falling outside the steady heartbeats, the steady breathing and the one very close to me. Looking over to the source was Steve, my breath hitches at the sight of him.

He was on his side was I could see that he probably hasn't left my side since I had passed out. I felt sluggish by the amount of the serum in my body, it didn't know what to do and if I didn't get food in me. My body would start rejecting it. And this time, there won't be a way to prevent my death.

I went to stand but Steve's hand caught my arm firmly but it was gentle. I glanced over at his sleeping form, well he wasn't anymore.

"I'm just getting something to eat," I said before I heard light footsteps coming down the hall.

The door opened and the lamp on the bedside table next to Steve turned on. "I thought I heard voices," Nat came in. "Wow," She was staring at me, "You look healthier than I have ever seen. More than anybody," She came over and caught a few strands of dark chestnut brown hair in her fair fingers. "Your eyes are really vivid," She smiled before Roady came in with a great smelling bowl of food.

My nose perked up at the delicious smells, my mouth was watering big time, Nat and Roady chuckled at my reaction. Roady placed a bowl spaghetti in my wager hands.

"I've never thought I'd ever met a werewolf in my life. But you my dear Isarenity," Natasha began. She watched me eat, "You made Tony shit his pants, you're pretty scary when you're pissed off."

"Thor mentioned something about Gale calling Steve your mate?" Roady asked.

"When did you guys hook up?" Nat asked with a sparkle in her green eyes.

"Is she up?" Sam walked in. "About time," Sam came over and ruffled up my hair.

"We didn't 'hook up'," Steve replied.

"What I miss?" Sam looked between the four of us. "Wait, you two aren't together?"

I sat the bowl on the bedside table before wiping my mouth with the napkin Nat handed me. "No, we aren't," I stood up and crossed my arms.

"Damn, girl," Roady stared at me bewildered. "How can you eat that much and still be that fit?" His eyes trailed over my body for dramatic effect.

"Damn," Sam's eye's trailed up my legs slowly before finally meeting my eyes.

"I can burn it off in many different ways," I winked at Sam.

Steve shifted legs clearly uncomfortable, I gazed at him, I could see the possessive and jealously hidden in his blue eyes. Just to have a bit of fun I got flirty.

"Maybe I'll show you sometime," I shifted a weight on one of my legs.

Nat covered her mouth to hide her smile an muffle her giggle.

"I'm looking forward to it," He winked at me before leaving the room.

I smiled at Natasha as she had a small giggle fit, "Are still going to marry that little perv?"

"Oh yeah," I grinned, "He won't be a perv because he'll be mine."

She laughed before following me out of the room, I smirked at Steve's slight profanities.

"She's alive!" Klint engulfed me in a hug.

"Hey!" Sam called. "That's my wife!"

I laughed, "What the hell did I miss?" Tony quired dumbfounded.

"Nothing much," I hugged Roady before hugging Sam as he started getting jealous.

"You see this?" Sam was gazing at the others. "That's mine," I giggled before leaning an arm on Natasha's shoulder.

"You're going to have to fight me for her," Nat teased. "She's my baby mama," I smiled.

"Hey, Ren!" Bruce called me before Sam slapped my butt as I walked away. I laughed and then sat down on the couch. "How did you defeat Gale? Right, that was his name?"

"Yeah, it was," I clasped my hands together and leaned forward. "I just channeled all of abilities I guess you could say, to my hands. As everyone knows, Steve is my mate," Steve scoffed from the kitchen. "There's one thing that I could explain in a way," I went over to Natasha's book pile.

I pulled out Romeo and Juliet, "Everyone knows the story of Romeo and Juliet. I guess you could say that their was magic or whatever behind our history." I channeled my power to my wrist and hand. The flames were calm liquid ribbons wrapping around my light caramel skin, "Once we come of age, and learn our story we are able to find our soulmate. It's called on imprint, yes like Twilight but in different ways terms.

"An imprint is a protector, sibling, friend, and eventually a lover," With the channeled power I was able to form holoforms. The golden forms produced bodies and faces, I showed each word in a form. "When this happens, they are everything, nothing in the world matters expect for the one person. And when one has to give up their life for the other, nothing will ever change that decision. The only thing to break the bond, is by the death of the other, you are destined to be together."

"Wow," Thor murmured.

"A bond, what kind of bond?" Roady asked.

"Your souls are bonded, your very core is bonded with the other. You could feel what their feeling," I glanced over at Steve.

"That's…" Nat trailed off. "That's beautiful," She gazed over at me with moisture in her eyes.

I smiled slightly, "What does your serum do?" Bruce quired.

"It's just a boost for my genes to heal my body, it's another reason why I'm able to stay fit without exercise," I replied.

"You're so at ease with all of this, it's like you're used to it," Klint retorted.

"I am kinda used it. I'm used to be jumped, but I've never had to give my life to save another. I've always been on my own since I was twelve," I leaned my elbows on my knees and rubbed my face.

"How old are you now?" Sam asked.

"Nineteen," All of their eyes grew wide.

"What? I thought everyone knew this?! I'm not that old!" I gawked.

"I thought you were at least twenty-three, twenty-four," Natasha admitted, with a sigh.

"No, I'm nineteen," I shook my head, "Do I really look twenty four to you all?"

They nodded or answered aloud.

"Well, you all know my real age," I huffed before flipping the cover of the William Shakespeare poem novel.

"You like Romeo and Juliet?" Nat asked.

I shook my head, "No, I hate it. It actually makes me cringe," She gasped.

"What? How?" Everyone else groaned.

"Because it's sick, they instantly fall in love, like that doesn't happen," She gave me a look. "Imprinting is different than that, there are stages before you fall in love," I crossed my arms and leaned back against the couch.

"How many left?" Steve asked, his arms leaning against the back of the couch right behind me.

I thought, "One…" I trailed off and I looked back over the weeks. Wow, I had told him everything after Slovakia, when I had joined.

"I'm calling it a night," Tony stood and stretched before heading to the quarters.

"Might as well all do," Roady replied. "I'm beat and these last few days have been scary and eventful," He winked at me.

"Wait, how long was I out?" I turned to Steve.

"Three whole days," He stood up walking away. But sensing my distress, he turned back and sat beside me.

"Three days?" I whispered distant.

"How long does it usually take?" He asked.

"A day maybe less," I glanced up at him.

"You woke, I think that all that matters," He placed his hand over my mine.

I gasped at the shock that ran up my arm and into my chest, it was a wonderful feeling.

"I think it does," It was only us, the others had gone. I glanced back at him and to our hands.

I froze when he kissed me, the touch brought chills all over my body, I moaned slightly at the soft kiss. It was total bliss and electric, I placed a hand on his cheek before wrapping my arms around his neck to deepen it.

"Last stage," We jumped apart.

Bruce grinned before grabbing his phone and walking back to the elevators and going to the bedrooms. I chuckled blushing and heading toward my quarters, Steve grabbed my arm before turning me around. Linking our hands together, they fit perfectly together, and knew we'll always be for each.

"I thought I won't be able to live without a war," He murmured gazing deep into my eyes. "To make feel like the world needs me to save them from a disaster. But knowing all of this, almost losing you, I know that it doesn't matter. Nothing matters unless knowing that you're alive and you're in my arms," He whispered and I held him closer breathing in his scent.

"So when you said, 'It's just me and then it's just you'? Does that mean that, that's changed?" I asked, pulling away to look in his eyes.

"Yes, now it's just us," He smiled and kissed me with longing and passion. "So, we're at the lover stage?" A pool of warmth spread throughout my body.

"Yeah, we're at the lover stage," I smiled. "Do you still want to know my nightmare?"

He looked confused before he understood, "Yeah."

"You already know, I almost lost you," I murmured.

"Isarenity Halin, nothing will take me from you," He kissed me again before the want and need controlled us when I pulled away.

"Better hope so," I took his hand and led him to my quarters.

He was right.

It was just us.
