As I stepped off the train that day, I felt the warm breeze of this new town, this new life of mine. I wanted to forget my old life, start anew. My psychologist suggested I move here, said that they needed a leader, and I would be perfect for the job. I was psyched when I found out. My old way of life had taken it's toll on me and I was ready to use my powers for good, instead of the evil I had been doing back in my old town.

I had barely gotten settled in when I met her. Her name was Isabelle. From the moment I met her, I was dumbstruck. Her beautiful blonde hair was up in a bun, her dog ears flopped to the side. She was amazing.

Isabelle was my secretary, always helping me with my duties as mayor. Once, she tried to train a roach that she found in the office because she didn't want to kill it. I thought that was adorable of her. We had such fond memories.

But one day, I got a letter. The stamp wasn't like anything I had seen before. It was made with red wax, and had two lines on it. I opened it up and was shocked. I had heard of the Smash competitions before, but never thought they would want ME to participate!

My old instincts kicked in and I relapsed. I sprinted to the next train to manhattan, where the first games would take place. I arrived just in time for the match at the boxing ring. Mario's face was priceless.

My murderous ways took hold and I dominated the competition. Wielding my axe never felt so good. But then one day, I was fighting Toon Link and everything changed. I was nearly dead, and needed help. I saw an assist trophy to my side and reached out in desperation. Once it popped open, Everything stopped.

It was Isabelle. There she was, cheering me on, passing me fruit to heal me up. Even after I left without saying goodbye, she was still there. A tear rolled down my cheek as I watched her wave goodbye.

That night, in the barracks, I decided to take a vacation. I borrowed Megamans pet, Rush, to get to the train station. The whole ride over, all I could think of was her. I needed to see her again. I needed to tell her how much I loved her.

But once I got to the station, there he stood. Toon Link. The man I fought not an hour before. I got into a position to fight, but instead of drawing his sword, he just walked over to me and hugged me.

He said to me in a hushed voice, "I had a love once. Her name was Medli. She was the most beautiful girl I ever met, even after the princess. But I didn't have the guts to tell her. Go on, Villager. Be with her. Make her happy, treat her well, and never, NEVER take her for granted. We may just be games, but our feelings are just as real as our players."

I waved goodbye and boarded the train. I stood on the stoop of the office I had left so long ago. After composing myself, I slowly opened the door and entered.

There she was, beautiful as ever. She turned to me and froze. After a long pause, I dropped my bag and ran over to her. She ran to me, arms outstretched, tears streaming down her face. "You came back! I missed you so much!"

I held her against my chest and kissed her forehead. "I missed you too, Isabelle."

No matter where life takes you, no matter how far apart you may be, never forget where your home is.
