I'm feeling very... cheesy and... (yaaaaawn) sleepy right now. But, hey! Better than nothing.

«I am never going back there.

«Come on, Lily, you say that all the time!

«Because I mean it!

«You say that all the time too.»

Lily sat down next to James on the couch, rubbing her face. She was rather pale and her ponytail was hanging low, with a lot of hair out of the elastic band. He undid it gently and smoothed out her hair, combing through it lightly with his fingers.

«It's okay to be tired, Flower. You're a morning person : in the morning you're all enthusiastic and optimistic and happy, but after a long day of hard work, you just...deflate, I dunno.

«I know... For you it's the other way round...No, actually you're always in a good mood...» He grinned but shook his head.

«No...At night, when I have time to think, I start believing that this doesn't have any sense to it : why fight when we could be far away, in a foreign country, without any Voldemort or death-eaters or traitors to ruin our lives? And then I remember that if every witch and wizard left England, the muggles would feel the impact, then the foreign countries. And, more importantly, there are braver people than us who'll stay here at any cost. We can't let them fight alone when they don't deserve it, can we? The more people stay here, the faster and easier it will be to end this war.»

She grinned and whispered, sighing «We're Gryffindors, yeah?

«We're Gryffindors. And,» he said, lifting her as he stood up from the couch, «Remember, being aurors was our dream, so we do it. It still is our dream, we still do it. I, for one, will fight until the war ends.

«Me too.» she said sleepily.

The next morning.

«James! James, wake up!

«Wuh? It's Saturday, 'ily, day off...Rhhhh...Day off...»

She huffed, frustrated, and leaned into his back. He had a pillow on his face and ears to block out the light and sound. She laid her head on the pillow and smiled.

«Yes James, it's saturday- but I just have to tell you very important news and then, you can go back to sleep.» He growled and rolled over to face her. He leaned on top of Lily to pick up his glasses on her nightstand. He pushed them onto his nose and kissed her for good morning, but as it was getting too long for a greeting, she pushed him away and grinned.

«Guess what?

«Ugh, no, Lily, it's going to take forever, just tell me already!» She sat down on the bed and pointed at her stomach excitedly.

«Are you hungry? Oh, never mind then. Er... You have a bellybutton piercing? You need to use the toilet? OW! Hey! What did I do? Okay, fine...What? No-...No? No! Are you...Are you...pregnant? Am I unhappy? What, are you kidding? This is great! This is absolutely wonderful!»

They stayed in each other's arms a long time, reveling in their happiness. In that moment, in their small world, there was no war.

I, for one, do not want to have a husband and children but a flourishing career instead, but Lily and James stories make my stomach soar cheesily, and I like it. So here you go! Second story of the holidays, I just have to finish the first, and then three more to go (in one month, argh!) . :)
