Author's Note: To those who don't know about Neko Atsume, it's a game where you try and collect cats. You leave food and toys, and then the cats will come and hang out in the yard. The goal is to collect all 45 cats. The game is in japanese (at the time I wrote this anyway), but you don't have to understand the language to play it really. And now, our story, which begins in the real world.
"Cats in japan. And...search."
I looked in the news articles. I was trying to find an old article about an island where cats outnumbered people. It wasn't on the first page. But something else caught my eye.
It was an article about a game involving cats. I click the link, and read the article.
"Neko Atsume...Cat Collecting."
I then searched for it on my iPhone 4S. It was the first search result. I hit the "Get" button, entered my password, and then began to wait.
The download was finished. A few minutes later, I had completed the tutorial. An all white cat was playing with the red ball I had left out in the yard.
"You shall be called Cloe."
I figured out how to name the cat, and then the name was so.
I locked my iPhone, and decided I would check in on the yard later.
A few hours passed. Cloe had left the yard. I bought more items for the cats to play with. Two more cats soon appeared. An brown and white tabby and a tortoiseshell, with a naughty personality.
"This brown and white one shall be Ginger, and the tortoiseshell...Sundae."
I counted the number of cats I had collected.
"One, two, three cats. Only forty-two more to go..."
And so began The Cat Collecting Challenge.
