She wondered a lot of times why she always came here. Why this road was the most visited one. Why she couldn't really go away from her. Why her life was hung up here.
She never got the answers to those questions, she never could. How could she when the answerer had left her standing here? She had been friend-zoned so hard; she sometimes had to laugh at her predicament. He saw her just like as a friend; she had her life dedicated to him. He had simply added her to the long list of his travelling companions; she had treasured his memory forever. He would easily move on, travel to a new region, get new Pokémon and friends; she would cry her nights out. He would forget her; she wouldn't even think of it.
And here she was. At the long and winding road that lead to his door. They had parted here, she had laid her heart open in front of him, he had look confusedly at it and then crushed it. She was just a good friend! A bloody friend! That's what he thought of her. Thankfully, her other two companions weren't there to see her lose. They'd already parted ways with him some time ago. She felt sorry for them; they were also doomed to be forgotten, doomed to become just a combination of alphabets in the long list of his. But they'd probably move on. The bad thing was she wouldn't be able to, no matter how hard she tried.
This road was cursed, she was sure of it; cursed by Arceus, by the Morality duo, by the Creation trio, by every damn Pokémon which was capable of cursing. And it was so freaking long!
A slight breeze picked up suddenly and she shivered slightly, the pool of tears below her growing steadily. The sun was setting; she would have to go home soon. Her mother would certainly get worried. She sighed. If only she hadn't switched on the TV that day, if only she had stuck with Rhyhorn racing, if only she hadn't gone to that summer camp, if only she hadn't followed that wild Pokémon and got lost, if only she had not fallen in love with him. So many 'if only' confused her mind and her eyes released an even larger torrent of tears. The pool of tears below her had now taken the form of a river, flowing away, without a care in the world. She was like that, no care, no tension, no nothing. But meeting him changed everything. Every bloody thing.
And here she was, at the long and winding road, the road which led to his door, the road where it all ended, the road that was cursed.
Unrequited love is the most painful, her mother had once said. She had debunked it, saying love was overrated. She was so wrong. Her mother had said that she would know when she grew up, and she did.
And then, here she was, at the long and winding road.
But they still lead me back,
To the long winding road.
You left me standing here,
A long long time ago.
Emperor SS: This one's actually a 530 words drabble. I know drabbles are supposed to be 100 words, but this is my version of drabbles. Some may say that I should have extended it, but I don't really wanna write a 4, 000 words one-shot about unrequited love, that would be too damn depressing. So here it is! Like 'All My Loving', the story is inspired by another famous song by my favourite band. If you don't know it, I suggest you give it a listen. Anyways, please review!
