((A/N: Thanks for clicking on this story! This is obviously a one-shot, may convert into a full story, but meh, I'll explain when we get there. First: I DO NOT OWN MULAN. Second. I added a bit of Chinese Mythology including Fenghuang, the phoenix. Search it. Third. This is a slight AU with Mushu. Okay, I think that's it. Now enjoy!))

Fenghuang, the large female phoenix rested atop a marvelous building. Her eyes were narrowed, as she watched her what once was her comrade convulse into a much fiercer being, like he had done so long ago. How long had it been? Five-hundred years? Six? Despite the amount, it still was centuries ago, so long that he should have forgotten how. For him to retain his former self… this woman he protects must be special. Though, he put her in more danger than she was in before, that was for sure. "Blasted idiot." she muttered, and swiftly flew off the roof, resting beside the injured woman. She watched her foe, a large hawk that was twisting and turning, trying to evade the giant red guardian as it lunged for it. She waved a wing over the fallen warrior beside her, as a small feather released itself from her wing, falling onto the greatest of her wounds. Slowly, it melted into the blood, closing the wound. With a grumble, the black haired woman sat up slowly and painfully, looking around. Her eyes locked onto the ferocious beast in front of her, eyes widening in awe and terror as she recognized who. "Mushu…" she whispered, the red dragon's eyes not featuring the mischievousness it usually held, displaying only raw anger and pain.
