"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'RE PREGNANT," Van screamed at Cheyenne.

"I mean you knocked me up," Cheyenne replied.

"Look," Van said, "We are going to get an abortion!"

"That will never happen," Cheyenne said firmly.

"I made up my mind," Van said, "That's what we are going to do."

"MY BODY MY BABY MY CHOICE," Cheyenne told him.

"I don't want a baby right now," Van said.

"Well that's too bad," Cheyenne said, "You don't have to have anything to do with the baby or me but I am going to have this baby and raise this baby."

Van decided to try a different tactic. He came over to her house a few days later.

"Cheyenne I was thinking about what you said about nine months of pregnancy and labor and throwing up."

"Yeah," Cheyenne said.

She hoped Van had a change of heart.

"Why not get an abortion? It's easier."

"Van I don't care about easier," Cheyenne said, "This is a child not a piece of meat that you throw away because you don't want."

"See? Right there. You just said you didn't want the baby."

"No I never said that," Cheyenne said, "This baby is a part of me and a part of you. It's my baby. It's my body and it's my choice."

Van just glared at her. He couldn't believe she was being so stubborn. Having a baby was not in the cards. She was making him make an impossible decision.

"This isn't over," he said and walked out.

A few days later Van text her.

Did you decide to have an abortion yet?

Cheyenne text him back.

No I have not and I will not.

He responded.

Why won't you take my feelings into consideration?

He was trying to guilt trip her.

My body my baby my choice. I'm the one that's going to go through nine months of pregnancy throwing up and labor. Stop feeling sorry for yourself.

Slowly Van accepted the fact that they were going to be parents. He tried to convince her to give the baby up but she wouldn't hear of it.

"My body my baby my choice."

"Why are you so stubborn," he asked.

"I'm not stubborn," she said, "I love this baby."

"You don't even know this baby."

"It doesn't matter. This baby is a part of me. This baby is inside me."

"Cheyenne-"

"My body my baby my choice," she said.

"I just want to say I guess I'm in."

"Don't be in if you aren't really interested," Cheyenne said.

"I guess I'm interested," he said.

"To quote Dr. P you're enthusiasm is underwhelming."

"I'm scared Cheyenne," Van said, "I don't feel ready to be a father yet."

Nine months later Van held Elizabeth for the first time.

"Cheyenne," he said, "Thank you."

"For what," she said.

"For giving me a daughter and for refusing to abort her," Van said, "I love you and I love this baby. Will you make us a full family and marry me?"

"Oh Van," Cheyenne said, "YES!"
