Disclaimer: I own nothing

I hold the picture.
My wrinkled fingers
Brush across the cool glass
That seals it into the frame.

Trapped inside for fifty five years,
A picture of my wedding day.
We were both twenty five.
But we had survived so much,
It felt like we were older.

We had been together
since we were teens.
I remember my first words to him,
"You drool when you sleep."
We were so young and untainted.

We fought side by side,
Me gradually learning to love him,
He falling head over heels.
Our parents were rivals,
But we made it work.

We made it through thick and thin.
Into Tartarus and back out again.
We had our arguments and problems,
But we worked them out.

He proposed on valentines day,
And I said yes.
We were married,
Simple,
But elegant.

We lived our lives
As uneventfully
As a demigod can,
Only fighting off monsters
Occasionally.

Fifteen years ago,
Percy died,
Peacefully.

Now,
I can feel
That my time is nearing.
And I will embrace it,
For I will see my love again.

As I write this note to you,
My daughters and grandbabies,
I wish for you
A long and happy life
With the ones you love most.

Sincerely,

Annabeth Jackson
