Christmas was only a few days away. The mad dash for last minute gifts had begun in the marketplace on Destiny Island. A brown haired youth about the age of ten walked down the bustling sidewalk, trying to get a peek at the items that were placed in the shop windows. His mother had given him permission to look around the shops, as long as he met her in the square in exactly half an hour. He didn't have much time to lose, and kept on walking.

He let out a sigh, placing his hands into his pockets. He had to find the perfect gift for someone special. But he never realized how difficult it would be to find a present for a girl. He began to wonder to himself if she would like a remote control car. Some girls liked that kind of stuff…

He eventually snapped out of his reverie. No, he told himself. It has to be something special! Kairi is worth it! Not paying attention, he accidentally bumped into someone. He gazed up to apologize, immediately recognizing the face.

"Hey Riku, I'm sorry about that," he apologized.

The silver haired boy smiled and gave a small shrug. "It's okay, Sora. Are you shopping for a gift at the last minute? That's typical of you," he teased lightly.

Sora frowned before noticing that Riku was carrying a wrapped item. He then smiled playfully. "Looks like you're doing the same thing, Riku!" he retorted.

"Hmph. Well, yeah… I had to find something really nice for Kairi," Riku stated.

Sora blinked. So, he was out shopping for Kairi as well? He looked at the gift again. He couldn't help but wonder what it was. He was about to ask before Riku began to walk past him.

"I need to get going. My dad's waiting for me at the square. See you around." Riku gave a small wave before heading off.

Sora frowned again. It was as if Riku knew what he was going to ask. It didn't matter, though. Sora knew that he would find out what the gift was eventually. His heart sank a little, knowing that Riku was much better at selecting gifts than he was. He wanted to get Kairi something special. He didn't care about trivial things, such as outdoing Riku in the gift-giving department.

Suddenly, a shop caught his attention and he smiled. He didn't have much time left, so he hurried to the shop. Once he inside, he was overwhelmed by all of the sweets that were on display. It was a typical candy shop. But during the holidays, it just seemed even bigger and better. Sora began to look around, eventually spotting something.

"Hmm. Sea Salt Taffy…" he muttered to himself, remembering that Kairi seemed rather fond of the candy. In fact, he was rather fond of it himself.

He smiled and grabbed a box. It wasn't exactly a super-spectacular-amazing Christmas gift that he had imagined, but Sora knew that Kairi would like it very much. As long as she was happy, he would be happy.

And he was also kind of hoping that Kairi would end up sharing some of that candy, too.

Merry Christmas :)
