Yeah this is an old thing I wrote during the Impel Down arc I think but I'm just now submitting it lol. Sorry its been so long but I've had school, a broken computer, and accidentally replacing the file with all my stories. I have most of mine back but some of the more latest ones are gone. =.= This is not one of my best as I seem to be a bit better with angst.

Disclaimer: Yeah right like I own this awesomeness.

Reading Between the Lines

Its been over a week now since the Straw Hat Pirates have been reunited after the Kuma incident and a certain red haired navigator noticed something about their rubber idiot of a captain, he's changed.

Well everyone has changed some I suppose. I know more about weather. Usopp and Chopper seem a bit braver. Sanji is less of a womanizer. Robin is more knowledgeable about the Revolutionary army. Franky learned more about Vegapunk and mechanics. Zoro has gotten insanely strong and Brook seems more flamboyant than usual.

After hearing what Luffy went through with his adventure I'm not surprised that he seems different! But I have a feeling he skipped over some important details through his skim of his story. Its not huge differences that I notice like him turning vegetarian because that's just crazy! But subtle ones like him keeping a closer watch on everyone, laughing more like hes enjoying every second of our company, and a very uncharacteristic trait reading the newspaper. I walked in the Aquarium Bar room to get the sunscreen that I left in there earlier and actually saw him reading one.

"Hey." I said.

"Hn." Was all I got back.

"Luffy? Luffy!"

"Huh?"

After finally getting his attention he looked up with a dazed expression.

"Why are you reading the newspaper instead of goofing off with Usopp or Chopper?" I asked with confusion and a little concern. He smiled his Luffy smile and replied

"Ah! Well that old bean lady told me that the newspapers are really important and after talking with her I kind of agree."

'I wonder what they talked about?' I thought with more concern.

"Well nothing too important." He said standing up.

"Here you go." He gave me the newspaper and stretched.

"Sat in the same position for too long I guess?" Laughing he started walking away when Sanji yelled for lunch.

"Food! Food! Food!"

With one last "food" he took off at full speed towards the kitchen to get his precious meal. I couldn't help but smile seeing that some things will always be the same. Glancing down at the newspaper I stared at the headline thinking I could probably guess what they talked about.

'I'll have to make sure we get the newspaper more often.' I thought while running to get lunch before Luffy ate it all.
