Gandalf convinces Frodo to leave the Shire. This song is based on the song "Requiem for a Dream" by Clint Mantreel. If you know this song, it's more than six minutes long, very beautiful and haunting, but with lots of parts that don't lend themselves well to lyrics. I've tried to choose parts where the beats are distinctive enough to lend themselves to music, or at least have the emotional qualities to naturally fit certain speaking parts.
0:43 Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulûk, agh burzum-ishi krimpatul
0:58 Frodo, he is coming, coming very quickly
Evil's wakening, and now he knows that you will have It:
He will never leave you, let not hope deceive you:
He will hunt you till he takes away your dying breath!
1:11 Ages have passed since that day before the Black Gate,
Where Isildur cut off Sauron's One Ring from his hand :
It should have ended then, but that cruel thing lived and
Now we suffer for the weakness and the greed of men,
1:26 Nine for mortal men,
Seven for the dwarves,
Three made by the elves,
And the One to rule them all:
1:33 Now the men are his,
And the dwarf-rings all are lost.
The Elves have stood the test,
But they won't last if he finds your Ring!
1:40 Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul
2:43 Spoken This is the one Ring, the Ring of Sauron. He is seeking it, seeking it with all his power -- but he MUST NOT FIND IT.
3:06 Ages past and men forgot cruel Isildur's bane;
Until the hobbit-children to Gladden Fields came.
Déagol saw the ring, then he saw his last
Sméagol loathed the light, into the mountains passed, and then,
3:18 Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulûk, agh burzum-ishi krimpatul
3:31 Can you hear the darkness growing in the night?
Can you see the old guards run away in fright?
Dreams of ancient terrors move beyond your dreams
Into the waking world, this is why I sing to you.
3:57 spoken Know this: you were not chosen for any merit that others do not posses, not for power or wisdom at least. But you have been chosen, and so you must do what you can.
4:37 Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, Ash nazg thrakatulûk, agh burzum-ishi krimpatul
5:08 Gather up your strength; we must flee the Shire tonight:
Hurry, for we haven't time
Run now, take what help you may
I do not see the way, I do not see your hope,
But powers you cannot see, they'll help you through.
Make for Rivendell and whatever lies beyond -
Make for Elrond's house -- good-bye! ends 5:33
