Endings
She always believed, since she was young.
Believed that fairytales do come true, with happily ever afters and all that. It was simply the rule of things. The good always prevails. She could never believe otherwise. In all those books and stories she read it always turned out that way.
And so she believes that life would have to turn out that way too. This, in her eyes, is also the way of things. She believes that everything would end up alright, no matter how hard, or how impossible things may seem at the time; and for a while, things were alright, and she had hope that this was the way that they always would be.
Things were not perfect, but hey, it isn't a perfect world, and she thought that as long as they were together, just their team, she could be happy. Even though Sasuke was never interested in her, and Naruto was just a little too interested. She wanted all the times they spent together to be frozen in time, and never to move forward again.
But just a little of her hope has died over the years.
Sasuke left.
She was too weak to keep him there, make him stay with her, all of them.
Naruto couldn't bring him back.
They tried again, but they only failed.
They lost track of him so much.
There was news that he is going to destroy Konoha.
The Akatsuki is chasing Naruto.
Each thing batters at her, and each time it breaks her a little.
She was a beautiful glass vase, set up on a pedestal, but the glass is becoming dusty and dirty- fogged up. She is beginning to lose some of that hope that stayed with her when everything seemed perfect- or as perfect as things can get in a flawed world.
Except she doesn't let it show. She won't even admit to herself that she feels this way, because she is afraid what will happen if she accepts this.
The good must prevail. They can't give up, because then what would everything they've reached for come to?
Sasuke must come home.
Naruto- and Sakura- have to bring him home.
Naruto has to become Hokage, and prove to the world that he is worth something, is someone.
They have to defeat Akatsuki.
This is the way of things. It will end happily. She will make it so. They have to get a happy ending.
She repeats to herself over and over: "This will end happily."
…
…
But what if it doesn't?
Aneko: Depressing much? Sorry. Just a thought I actually keep having. Everyone (well, mostly everyone) wants Sasuke to get home alive and stop being an idiot (at least, I think he's being an idiot). But I'm so afraid he won't…
Ja, sayonara.
