Stranger (Trapped in the Middle)

Samsara - Nov. 23, 2001

Tell me stranger, what is there left for a fallen angel?

Without a glimmer of hope left for me to breathe in

Nor a drop of hatred to exhale

Why am I here?

I really have no existence

No side to fight for

No true Destiny

Only trapped in the middle of this raging war

Stranger, did you know

I am really no one

No form to take

Nothing to be

I'll stand here for eternity until I stop

This is the middle line

The marking place for losers

Winners on each side

Powerful their logic stands

Righteous in their path

I stand a leader of the unknown

Of the unmet

Not starlight or stardusk can guide the weary eye

We are the undecided

The few children of the both

We get to stand in the middle

Our own special place

Inside the valley Ares

Stranger, have you heard

The painful screams of middlemen

The mockeries of hate filled men

You stand outside

A stranger to my doorstep

Such a face

Rings quite a bell

Stranger, are you truly a stranger

You look from these parts

The valley was a home

The one you left in search of Fame

In search of Fortune

So tell me, dear stranger

Did you reach your highest content

Have you met the worlds end with grace to no doubt

Did you ever miss this ungrateful servant

Did you ever cry when I wasn't there

You stand as a stranger

Pausing at my doorstep

This once was your welcome home

What's made you forget it

Perhaps you are a stranger

You stand stark still

I sit upon the floor

Eyes curled to the heavens

Did I ever mean to you what you meant to me

I don't think that matters anymore

Nothing matters

Not hugs

Not kisses

Touches

Or gasps

You ran away

But from what I'll never know

Stranger?

You must be a stranger

You stand there

Unsure as hell

Am I dead or gone?

I care not which

For whatever stranger you've become

You made me into what you are:

Stranger
