A/N 1x1 'Starting today you are a host.' Missing scene between Tamaki walking into the changing room on Haruhi and her coming out.
"You all knew!" The blonde was practically turning puce in a mixture of rage, frustration and embarrassment.
"Now Tamaki, there is no need to get so worked up..."
The Prince of the Host Club jabbed a finger in Kyoya's face.
"You. I might have known you'd be behind this."
The dark haired director merely used his pencil to push the pointing finger to the side and settled his glasses more comfortably on his nose.
"I knew, of course. It was obvious from the start that Haruhi was no ordinary boy, and it didn't take too long to realise why." He glanced up from under his glasses and his gaze flashed with a warning. "But so far as being behind anything, you are mistaken."
Feeling chastised Tamaki turned his frustrations onto the next victims.
"How long have you known?" he loomed into the faces of the twins and they loomed back, forcing Tamaki back a pace.
"Well it was kind of obvious boss..." they spoke in unison and then grinned mischievously, "...especially when she got changed."
The taunt created the effect they wanted as Tamaki went white and made a strangled noise. To stem further possible acts of violence on the part of the King, Kyoya manoeuvred himself back into the discussion.
"She kicked them out of her changing room," he stated calmly.
The twins pulled a face at him. "Why did you ruin it?" Hikaru accused.
"He was buying it," Kaoru added.
"Precisely." Kyoya relapsed back into silence, focused entirely on his clipboard, withdrawing once more from the petty insecurities of the King.
"Haru-chan likes Usa-chan," Hunny stated sweetly from Tamaki's feet. He presented the bunny to the still injured youth and then back to himself, cuddling the soft toy to his chest. "Girls like to hold Usa-chan."
Mori made an affirmative noise from behind Hunny, not detailing his own revelation. It was too difficult to explain anyway; the voice calling for help that had stirred something instinctive and primal deep inside. He still wasn't able to rationalise to himself what had made him leap to his feet and snatch the new member to safety.
Tamaki sat heavily on the floor and put his head in his hands. "I can't believe you guys didn't tell me."
The twins grinned. "It was more fun this way."
Hunny looked at Mori and then back to the Prince. "It was kind of obvious..." The dulcet tones of the innocent were like an arrow to Tamaki's chest.
"Obvious...right." He couldn't quite tell whether he felt more idiotic for not realising sooner or mortified for seeing her changing. Speaking of...
"Why didn't you tell me before I walked in?" he asked Kyoya accusingly.
The host didn't even look up from his clipboard. "You had to find out somehow."
Tamaki groaned and dropped his head.
"Better pull yourself together boss..."
"...she'll be coming out in a minute."
As much as he hated to take advice from those shady twins Tamaki got to his feet and tried to regain his composure. He was determined not to look like more of an idiot in front of her than he already had. How hard could it be?
