The True Heroes

November 11th, Veteran's Day- Mount Justice

Young Justice was sitting in the living room, quiet as they did simple things like reading or playing checkers. All but two of the teens knew why; finally, one of them spoke up.

"Robin," Miss Martian asked.

Said boy looked up from his solitary cards. "Yes MM?" he asked quietly.

She hesitated. "I heard that today was a sensitive earth day… Will you tell me what it is?" she asked.

"And why?" Superboy asked/added.

Wally, Kaldur, Artemis, and Robin glanced at each other, silently debating, finally, Wally West sighed and spoke.

"Today's Veteran's day, a day of silence," he whispered, for once, very quiet.

"It's a day to mourn for the soldiers lost while fighting for our freedom," said Artemis.

"The true heroes," Kaldur finished.

M'gann and Conner looked at each other. "True heroes?" Conner asked.

They became silent, robin growled. "Some people forget that the army came before the superhuman. They mourn for those who died behind a mask instead of those wearing a helmet and vest," he hissed.

"You don't like that?" M'gann asked hesitantly.

Wally's fist met the coffee table. "No! It isn't right!" he shouted angrily.

"Agreed," Artemis said silently.

Kaldur looked at Miss Martian and Superboy sympathetically. "We believe a real hero can look death in the eye, and fear it, but not let it stop them from doing what's right. We may do that sometimes but we don't fear it, not when we know we're capable of fighting back," he told them.

M'gann wiped her eyes dry. "I want to know more," she said firmly, Superboy nodding next to her.

Artemis stood. "There's a wall in DC, you can see the real heroes there."

They all stood and went to the Javelin. M'gann and Conner learned well.

This is in honor of my papa and his deceased buddy, Whitehead, and all those who saw hell and lived or died.

Yo, this is just my opinion, I've never actually read and seen anything with my story theme and but I've seen the funerals and deaths of Flash, Superman (more than once), Ironman, etc and I wondered why they got more than the soldiers who went out with the thought that they might not return. Superman, Captain Marvel, and a bunch more can go out and tell their wife or kid, 'I'll be back later', tell me your soldier can say the same when they go out with a helmet and gun…

Like I said, my opinion, you can tell me yours, just lay it on my softly.

Hooah.
