Prince Dreambert wandered throughout Pi'illo Castle. As it used to be his castle, he knew it like the back of his hand, but many changes had been made during the time since he had last been able to roam its halls. Alone, he explored the new old castle, alone because Mario and Luigi were taking a break to visit the castle's coffee shop–that was one of the new additions–and Bedsmith, who had followed him there like a lost puppy, had decided to visit the balcony. Starlow had followed Bedsmith with an odd look in her eyes that he couldn't quite place; those two had been acting a bit strangely around each other since...well... the first time they spoke to each other. Perhaps it would be prudent to check on them and make sure nothing had gone awry.
As the Pi'illo prince approached the balcony, he heard raised voices. From the sound of it, the two had gotten into a shouting match. Prince Dreambert let out a sigh. As royalty, he was certainly above such petty things as eavesdropping, but he couldn't help but hear some of their shouted words.
"I love him more!" That was Starlow's voice. Dreambert idly wondered who she was talking about.
"But you keep insulting him, and BEDSMITH! IS! MORE! FABULOUS!"
"Only because I don't want him to think I'm being too nice and think it's weird! And anyway, you say you're more fabulous, but you're just more gay!"
"AND I made the Ultibed! Don't I get points for that?"
"What does that even have to do with this?! YELLO GOODBYE!"
At this moment, Prince Dreambert pushed open the door to see the Pi'illo frowning at the yellow sphere with the angrily flashing star. "What's going on here?" he inquired mildly.
He didn't get a straightforward answer from either. Starlow blushed bright red, and Bedsmith turned to him and begged, "Let me nap on you!"
"Wait, what?!" Dreambert's eyes widened and he stepped back–as much as one can step back while floating.
"Just this once! I think I deserve a reward for helping to defeat Antasma!" the other Pi'illo insisted. "Please!"
"I-if he gets to nap on you..." Starlow began, still redder than it seemed possible for a yellow sphere to be, "then I want to, too!"
Oh. Well, wasn't this an interesting turn of events? Dreambert edged backwards looking from one to the other, then turned and fled. He could sense without looking that they were both following. Around and around the castle they went, until finally the prince stopped in the artifact room, worn out and gasping for breath. He floated the the bed in the center of the room and collapsed onto it.
Bedsmith and Starlow were equally worn out, but Bedsmith managed to get out a single word that summed up the reason why he had just chased the prince around the castle several times and what he wanted right then. "Nap?"
Dreambert was in no condition to argue. "Fine...just this...once..." he acquiesced. Looking at Starlow, who was shyly not looking at him in a way that may as well have been staring, he reluctantly added, "You too." He turned into his pillow form and plopped onto the bed.
Bedsmith smiled victoriously and announced, "BEDSMITH. IS. SNOOZY!" before passing out on top of the Pi'illo prince.
Starlow blushed scarlet again, but smiled and settled down with the other two. It wasn't even a full minute before they were all asleep.
