The evening star was bright that night within the western skies.
And down on Earth, its steady light shone clear in Arwen's eyes.
She stood high in a window of the white city of Man,
And silently, from up above, she looked upon the land.
The feast was done, the words were said, but still, they were not through.
Before she now was truly wed, one thing was left to do.
For oh so long she'd waited for this day. She should rejoice.
But now, she hesitated, for she feared the final choice.
For clear and keenly did she know just what that choice would mean
As she looked on the land below where silent stars did gleam.
Her family would pass away, to sail into the west.
And if she stayed, then never may she see those lands so blessed.
Her father, mother, all of them that she had loved so well,
Would ever she see them again? It's something none could tell,
As she would pass beyond this world for which her heart did yearn,
Beyond the skies where bright stars twirled, never to return.
But Aragorn could never linger long in Arda fine.
So she'd lose him forever if she chose now Elven-kind.
She looked now at that man so dear, whose love shone in his face.
Her own love pushed aside her fear. She moved to his embrace.
And then she looked him in the eyes and made her final choice.
Her pleasured gasps and joyous sighs gave her decision voice.
Whatever lay beyond those stars she really couldn't say.
But she knew that whate're there was, she'd see it all someday.
She'd face it all with he to whom she'd made her wedding vow.
She'd follow him into the tomb.
She was a woman now.
