The moon was high and the stars were bright. Not a single cloud in the midnight colored sky. The bright full moon shined brighter as two figures moved through the shadows. Starlight magnified as the beings moved along the open path. They moved fast and silent, their mission was of the most importance.

I opened the chosen one's window with ease, for it wasn't locked. He was so innocent, and he had no idea what was going to happen to him. "Is he the one?" I asked, just to make sure. The one next o me nodded, not even speaking. I slipped silently in through the window, avoiding the different toys that were splayed caroused the floor.

I took a quick deep breath to calm myself, and began. I moved my hands and wrists gracefully as the boy sat up and got out of bed. I closed my eyes, moving more as the little boy moved. When I opened them again, he was in front of a mirror.

I stood behind him, seeing his true reflection in the mirror. I saw an older man, one who had accomplished something amazing. Colorful ribbons and medals covered his fancy tan suit. He was saluting an invisible commander, frozen to the spot. Too bad he would never see this picture himself.

I flicked my wrist softly, and the boy placed his small hand on the mirror. I pressed mine on top his to start what we actually came for. His finger tips slowly started to fade from this world and became more real in the mirror. I pulled my hand away, no longer needing it there.

My partner glanced at me, a devilish grin on his face. Somehow he found pleasure in seeing humans fade. I didn't, the very thought of it made me want to hurl. I looked away from him and back at the boy.

His hands and arms were faded away, with his shoulders well on the way. I felt my stomach churn. Why we had to do this was a mystery to me. And of course, my partner could care less.

The boy's true reflection changed also. A look of pain and agony stained his face and his features as he too started fading. I couldn't look anymore. The sight was to much. My partner caught my eye and chuckled darkly. As if doing this wasn't enough, I had to have a sadistic maniac with me.

The boy was one, the reflection was gone, and the mirror fell dark. Finally it was over, and I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. Almost instantly, I sensed the boy's life force flow into me. I felt more awake, more alive, and more dangerous. I felt myself grin. I had the same demented smile on my face as my partner.

Out of habit, I high fiver his hand, making a loud crack. I felt like my own self again.

"Welcome to the dark side," said my partner devilishly. Just like overtime after a fading, I had an overwhelming desire to kill. My fingers popped as long claws grew from my finger nails, and my gums ached as long pure white fangs grew out.

I growled, but it soon became an insane laughter fit. I might not like fading humans, but I never said I didn't like the effects. My partner joined in my hysterical laughing fit, not at all worried about being loud anymore.

That night was filled with horrific screams, demented laughter, and rivers filled with warm blood turned to ice.
