Prompt #531 from tamingthemuse- Grace Note

Note: From now on most of my tamingthemuse stories will be named as the challenge.

Xander walked out of the bathroom in his pajama's, his hair damp from his shower. It was two in the morning, the only time the shower was available these days in Slayer Central. He really needed to start looking for his own place. After taking his wet towels to his room Xander decided to take advantage of the T.V room being empty so he could watch Spaceballs. He made a quick stop at the kitchen to grab a soda and bag of chips. Xander didn't sleep much anymore. He suspected it was because he didn't have much stress in his life being retired from the world saving business with his eye and all.

With the snacks ready Xander made his way to the T.V room to make himself comfy on that big couch Giles bought. He stopped when he saw Spike sitting on the couch with a guitar Xander had never seen before. Xander watched as Spike gently plucked the strings before stopping to write something down. Curious Xander walked up and peeked over Spike's shoulder. He was writing on a music sheet and Xander could see music notes all over the place. Xander even saw a few grace notes.

"It's not nice to look over other people's shoulders," Spike commented, not looking up from his work.

"Sorry," Xander said before walking around the couch and sitting beside Spike. "I didn't know you could play."

Spike shrugged as he looked over his notes. "No one does. I can't play in my room, it'll wake the others. This is the only room I can use."

It was true the T.V room was four floors down from where the bedrooms started. "I'll leave you alone. I was going to watch a movie but I can do that tomorrow."

"You don't have to leave," Spike mumbled.

"Really?" Xander asked. "Can you play me your song?" he saw Spike look up at him skeptical. "Please?"

With a single nod Spike began to play his guitar.

The song was soft and slow the opposite of what Xander thought it would be. He figured it being Spike it would be loud and obnoxious. The only word Xander could use to describe the music was beautiful.

When the song was done Spike looked up to ask what Xander thought but when he saw the look on Xander's face he knew. The look on Xander's face made Spike feel like he had just written Beethoven's Symphony number five.

"That was amazing! You really wrote that?" Xander asked in awe.

"Of course I did," Spike puffing out his chest. "I'm not just hot vamp, you know."

Xander smiled. "No, you are not. Do you... do you think you could teach me how to play?"

"You want me to teach you to play the guitar?" Spike asked. "Why?"

"Honestly? I'm bored," Xander confessed. "Since I can't help save the world anymore life has become boring and I think I need a new challenge."

Spike snorted. "Well, you are challenging."

"Is that a yes?" Xander asked hopefully. "I swear I'll try my best."

"It's a yes," Spike said before putting down his guitar. "We'll start tomorrow night." He picked up the bag of chips. "What movie are we watching?"

Xander smiled. "Spaceballs."

"Oh, I love Barf!"

Xander laughed at that and put the DVD in. It was nice to know there was someone here that had taste in movies!
