A box appears in the corner of a certain young woman's eyes.
The green-haired swordsman is carrying a delicately decorated box, an obvious trademark from a certain sea-going restaurant. It was obviously delivered this morning, as it would've been impossible to carry it over Reverse Mountain to be in such pristine condition.
The Straw Hat's crew's chef, Sanji, could've easily conjured up this dessert in a blink of an eye, but Zoro has still chosen to order this dessert to be delivered from the East Blue to the Grand Line. It was an extravagant move, but the young princess was sure it was the rivalry between them that prompted this little show of expense.
The parfait was exquisite, just as described and photographed throughout the years. Exquisitely swirled layers of chocolate, layers of cream, a layer of Swiss Meringue peeking through. A single salted Brazil nut at the top as a garnish.
Vivi looks up, tilting her head with a smile that's obviously disguising her envious frown, "It's the Baratie's chocolate parfait..." she says, but can't help but feel a slight twinge of jealousy from being able to see but not taste that particular delicacy that's famous world-wide, "I'm sure you'll enjoy it!"
She unintentionally sighs. Chocolate was her absolute favourite thing in the world, the sweetness and taste was always such a comfort to her. And, she always thought Mr. Bushido loathed chocolate or anything sweet. But this had proved her so wrong. He'd gone to such lengths to get this single delicacy here, so he must have always just covered it up.
Zoro sits down next to her, as if he's making a point of flaunting this little treat in front of her.
It annoys her, and she's slightly taken aback by this kind of display. She didn't know a man like him would so obviously flaunt this temptation -that he knows she would absolutely love- in front of her.
But, she reminds herself and preoccupies herself with watching a seagull fly above the Going Merry, Mr. Bushido isn't a soft-hearted man and definitely does not notice the finer details. What exactly did she expect?
It's when she finally feels something land on her lap that she looks up and notices the box. The box with the parfait. Chocolate parfait.
"Wha-"
Zoro finally reaches over and plucks the single Brazil nut from the dessert, "I don't like chocolate," he says with a non-chalant shrug and pops the Brazil nut in his mouth and chews contently.
The realization hits her like a lightning strike and she can't help the grin that appears on her face. He'd brought it for her. It was a charade... he had bought this expensive, exotic treat all the way out of the East Blue, just for her.
Vivi Nefertari is a person who can understand that words can't change the world, but actions can. And she knows better than most that actions always speak louder than words.
Especially when it came to Zoro...
