KC Guthrie has been trying to put his past behind him. Yes, he did help steal a car or two – among other things – but he's a different person now, honestly. He's been putting a lot of effort into just being good. And it was working, until Connor decided to ruin everything. Even though KC understands that Connor was just trying to help, he can't avoid feeling irritated at his friend's ignorance.

When they heard the news, neither Connor nor Clare reacted the way KC had expected. He imagined they'd be repulsed and maybe even afraid of him, but Connor appeared to be fine with it, even impressed. Clare's response was more complex, however. She seemed to go through four different emotions in less than two minutes; she was surprised, she was hurt, she was worried, and finally she was accepting. She told him that she didn't care – he was a good guy, she said.

The thing is, KC isn't sure whether he is a "good guy" yet. Even if his friends don't care right now, he does, and it could take awhile for him to accept himself.
