Summary: Rakshata prefers the company of the Shen Hu to that of its pilot. Xingke might be a little sick of that. XingkexRakshata one-shot.
Disclaimer: Wilder does not own Code Geass. This is probably a good thing.
Devicer
Rakshata is tinkering with the Shen Hu's float system when she hears footsteps. She's pretty sure she locked the door, but maybe she forgot. She's been itching to refine this part of the machine ever since she got her hands on it again.
"You'll always care for that Knightmare more than for me, won't you?" his deep voice echoes slightly in the hangar, resigned and a little amused.
"Of course," she says simply.
Xingke is important to her and to the world, but primarily as a devicer. And Rakshata refuses to get too attached to a man who could keel over at any moment. He's gotten worse lately, and rarely goes a day without coughing blood. Rakshata knows better than anyone that Knightmares are more reliable than human beings. They can be repaired. Even the Guren, wrecked as it was, has been reconstructed.
She won't get attached, but he's fascinating in his own way. She supposes it started when she saw the Shen Hu piloted for the first time. That high-spec machine, too advanced for anyone she'd ever known to use, moving so effortlessly and with such grace… she couldn't deny the beauty of it then, and she can't now. And the man inside isn't half bad, either.
He's much more reserved than she is, always has been. He is four years younger than Rakshata, but clearly an old soul – she's known that since the beginning of their… whatever this is. But she can tell that he's just a little frustrated by her ignoring him for the machine. The Shen Hu to him is a means to an end – a weapon and a shield for those he needs to protect. To her, it's one of her children.
Lightly, she descends the stairs and approaches Xingke.
"You're not actually offended, are you?" she teases, touching his cheek. Xingke almost rolls his eyes, but he's too dignified for that. Rakshata laughs at him, drapes her arms around his neck, and kisses him hard.
"Not anymore," he says, a hint of a smile touching his lips.
"Good. Now go away. You're distracting me, and my baby still needs work. What were you thinking, fighting Suzaku Kururugi head on?"
Xingke doesn't manage to suppress the eye roll and heavy sigh this time.
End
There were no XingkexRakshata fics in existence and I needed to fix that.
