The alarm clock sounded.
Mia rolled over and weakly opened her eyes. John wasn't there anymore. She looked at the alarm clock knowing that it was John who set the alarm at....
"2 am" She groaned loudly. She really loved the man but at times, she couldn't understand his humor. Though she was half awake and had no caffeine in her system, it was a no brainier that he was up to something.... why the hell would he wake her up at
2 am?
Her hunch was confirmed when she found a red rose lying at the end of the bed. She grabbed it and read the note that was attached to it. After reading the letter, she jumped out of bed and got dressed
Just like what the letter demanded her to do, Mia went out to the rooftop still intrigued of what was about to happen. A romantic dinner, perhaps? She had no clue. All she knew was that John always seemed to have something up his sleeve to make her feel all giggly.
Mia entered the rooftop and was bedazzled.
What once was a dark, abandoned rooftop was suddenly transformed into an extraordinary wonderland. The lonely and most of the time forsaken rooftop was suddenly filling her up with so much sentiment, so much romance...so much love. Candles of different shapes and sizes were scattered everywhere giving so much warmth and intimacy. The place was also bejeweled with so many flowers of different variations and colors...Roses, lilies orchids...red, fuchsia, purple... The fusion of the flowers had such a dramatic and beautiful effect.... In addition there was also a string quartet that was setting the mood with the music they were playing...and with stars sprinkled in the sky, it was a setting that would clearly sweep hopeless romantics off their feet.
Mia saw John at the end of the aisle of candles waiting for her with a smile on his face. John's vision suddenly was in slow motion as she walked towards him. She always takes his breath away.... but in his eyes, she was even more beautiful when she's caught off guard.
"What is this???" Mia asked eyeing him suspiciously when she got to where John was standing. He knew he was the culprit behind all these. She was answered by the quartet who started playing one of her favorite ballads.
"May I have this dance?" John asked putting out his hand with a smile in his face. Mia smiled and put her hand on his.
"You really know how to surprise me, don't you?" She asked looking straight in his eyes while they were dancing.
"Do you like it?"
"Of course" John smiled. The couple continued dancing and gazing on each other's eyes.
It was evident that they were in love with they way they were whispering sweet nothings to the other. But the mawkishness of the couple was abruptly interrupted by the display
of fireworks.
"You know, they say that if you light fireworks at night, your dreams and wishes would easily be granted..." She said looking in amusement in the sky. John was watching her. He had always loved her innocence. Mia looked at him.
"Haven't you heard of that before?"
"If its true, then I hope my wish will be granted" He took a deep breath and knelt before her. Mia was shaking knowing what was about to happen.
"You know I'm not so good with words...Mia, it took one look to realize that you are the one for me. I found everything that I'd ever been looking for in you. You are the only one that matters to me. I love you. And if you let me, I promise I will love you forever.... will you marry me?" Mia smiled already teary-eyed.
"YES!"
