Quick one-shot, in my head but a little late posting in - only 8 more minutes till the show! YIKES! Hodgela...my first-ever BONES! Enjoy...Song: Alanis Morrisette "Head Over Feet". I do not own BONES, or this song. Too bad...

Angela Montenegro stared at the ceiling of her office, flat on her back on the floor, twirling Hodgin's white rose between her slender fingers. It had long since begun to brown without any water to keep it alive, but she sniffed it and sighed dreamily every few minutes all the same.

I had no choice but to hear you
You stated your case time and again
I thought about it

You treat me like I'm a princess
I'm not used to liking that
You ask how my day was

Her mind wandered back to that moment again and again; she was studying… something. She couldn't remember what it was anymore, but he had scared her out of her wits by creeping up on her, something he didn't normally do. After the initial shock she smiled, but it faded from her face as she actually looked into his. His eyes weren't laughing, there was no silly grin on his lips; he was all seriousness and emotions. His arm stretched forward, but she couldn't quite focus away from his probing eyes so she wasn't sure of the object he held right away. It wasn't until he placed it on her desk and walked after a few more intense seconds that she finally registered the beautiful white flower, in early bloom, sitting next to her.

You've already won me over in spite of me
Don't be alarmed if I fall head over feet
Don't be surprised if I love you for all that you are
I couldn't help it
It's all your fault

Your love is thick and it swallowed me whole
You're so much braver than I gave you credit for
That's not lip service

Angela could hear Zack bustling around the lab, probably trying to clean up in hopes of basking in the glorious praise of the good Dr. Brennan, who, Angela mused, was probably in her office with her piles of paperwork, Ipod on full blast in her ears to help block out any focus-disrupting outside noises (i.e.- Zach's cleaning). Unsure of how much time had passed, Angela's warm brown eyes scanned the ceiling carelessly, counting the dots above her and losing her place time and again. More time passed and she was lulled into a state of bliss by the humming of her computers, the feel of the cool tile beneath her, and the waxyness of the rose's stem rolling in the palms of her hands; she could dimly hear the heels of Dr. Temperance Brennen's shoes clacking against the floor. Bones stuck her head in and was surprised to see her friend still hanging around. Angela never stayed past six o' clock if she could help it. Her dark hair pooled around her, the sleeves of her lab coat were slightly dirty from the floor, and Brennan could tell that she'd been like that for hours. Something flashed white against Angela's dark blouse and Bones finally noticed the rose she twirled in her hands, and she smiled.

You've already won me over in spite of me
Don't be alarmed if I fall head over feet
Don't be surprised if I love you for all that you are
I couldn't help it
It's all your fault

You are the bearer of unconditional things
You held your breath and the door for me
Thanks for your patience

Angela sighed and Brennan couldn't stop herself, "So you fell for him after all, huh?"

You're the best listener that I've ever met
You're my best friend
Best friend with benefits
What took me so long?

I've never felt this healthy before
I've never wanted something rational
I am aware now
I am aware now

Grinning, Angela replied, bringing the wilted flower to her nose again, "hey, it wasn't my fault. He tripped me."

You've already won me over in spite of me
Don't be alarmed if I fall head over feet
Don't be surprised if I love you for all that you are
I couldn't help it
It's all your fault
