What happened between "Cam, thank you for being there" and the kiss.

Camille sat outside the office waiting for Moose to come back out. Unsure of what would happen when he did.

Moose finally walked toward her, looking upset. She prepared for the worst.

"So?" She said, expectantly.

"Yeah, I mean, I - " He said hesitantly "I'm a double major, so..." He broke out into a smile.

"No way, Moose! Oh, my gosh!" Camille jumped and hugged him tighter than she ever had. He wrapped his arms around her. They held on for a moment, Cam just so excited, Moose realizing nothing would mean anything without her there to be excited for him.

"Cam, thank you. Thank you for being there."

"You're welcome."

They realized, even though they had broken the hug, they were still holding hands.

"Cam?" He released on of her hands to brush at his hair. She loved when he did that.

"Yeah?" He had that look in his eyes. Usually she knew what he was thinking, but lately something else had been putting a spark in his eyes. Something other than dancing. She only hoped it was her.

"We're all going down to the station to see off Nat. You wanna come?"

"Oh," She sounded disappointed, and he didn't know why. "Sure, I guess."

"Are you alright, Chameleon?"

She looked at him for a second, then smiled softly. "Yeah. I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?"

"Something's up. That's not your 'I'm okay' smile."

"What are you talking about?" She turned away.

"You're not even looking at me now." He turned her toward him. "Camille, what's up?"

"I'm a little confused." She said, deciding to plow right into it.

"What? About what?"

"You've been ditching me, and driving me crazy, then coming back and being so sweet, and driving me crazy, then ditching me again."

"Cam, I'm sorry. I thought I had told you that already. I'm so sorry. What do I have to do to get you to forgive me?"

"That's not what's confusing. Or, well, it's part of it." She paced and ran her hand through her hair. "I might just be imagining it because it's what I've wanted for so long, but - "

"What?" She turned to him, looked at him.

"You've been looking at me different."

"What do you mean?"

"At first I thought we were growing apart, but then you invited me into the Pirates and I started to think different. And then I noticed there was - There was a different kind of glow about you. Or maybe it's my imagination."

"What are you talking about? Chameleon, you're worrying me a bit." She sat down next to him on the bench.

"You know how I said I knew you'd been dancing again, because it makes you glow?" He nodded. "Well, this was more of a spark, I guess. And I never noticed it when you were talking to anyone else. Anyone but, well - "

"You"

"Well, yes."

"I was hoping it wasn't that obvious."

"What does the spark mean, Moose?"

"I'm not sure yet. But Cam?"

"Yeah?"

"You've got the spark, too."

She blushed. She'd been doing that a lot lately, he'd noticed. He'd wondered why. She didn't say anything for a few minutes. He slipped his hand around hers.

"Come on, we have to meet the others at the station."

The walked hand in hand the whole way. They had held hands before, but this felt different to them both.

When Natalie and Luke kissed, Moose realised how he could tell her. How he could let her know everything that had been buzzing through him since graduation. Why he had been so awkward, why he needed her so much.

He kissed her, and she kissed him back.
