"Our love is like a song. You can't forget it."
"Marvel Cade! Come back here!" The blonde girl squealed, mock anger seeping in her tone. Her mate was running from her, waving around the girl's journal in a taunting manner. "October 12, 0074. Have you ever wondered what love is?" Stopping and turning to face his madly blushing lover, he grinned cockily. "Writin' about me, are we, Glim?"
"Wah- no, of course not, Marvel! Why would I write about you?" Though Glimmer's voice sounded nonchalant, her porcelain cheeks were burning with a rosy flame, and the nervous sparkle in her eyes said otherwise.
Marvel's grin only widened, as he waited for the beautiful blonde he called his to catch up to him. "Then who was it about?" Glimmer glared at him playfully, daring him to force the answer out of him. Snatching the sparkly pink journal she had claimed as her diary since she was 15, Glimmer opened her mouth to retort something at the tall, goofy boy. "It's about.. about, yanno…" Looking away, Glimmer bit down on her lip, looking away.
Looping his arm around her waist, Marvel buried his face in her soft blonde hair, lowering his voice to a playful whisper. "Glimmer Grace Gaze. Do you love me?" A chill tingled down Glimmer's spine, his warm breath hitting her like an iceberg. The wind of outside blew through the small squared window, leaving a peaceful sound of leaves rustling about on the concrete streets of District 1.
"Do you think I do?" The angelic being whispered back, her voice matching his playful ways. "Do you think I love you, Marvel Cade?" She lifted her fingers up to softly graze his lovely features, a soft smile forming on her plush pink lips.
"I dunno, Glimmer. Do you?" Wanting to hear her say it herself, Marvel moved a stray blonde lock of hair from Glimmer's face, tucking it behind her ear, his other arm still around her slim waist.
"Mmm." Glimmer fluttered her eyes shut, taking in a small breath. "Yes, yes I do." His smile widening, Marvel pressed a small kiss to Glimmer's head. "Then, I love you, too." Burying her face in his neck, Glimmer mumbled out, "And it'll be our secret. They don't know about me and you, Marv. They only think we're silly children."
"And children we are. But one day, we'll grow up. Make a life together, Glim." Pulling her closer, Marvel rested his head atop hers. "Our love is like a song, Glimmer." "What's that mean?" "Songs are hard to forget." "Oh. Then yes, it's like a song."
Little did the pair know that their fate was already lain down. They were born to die. Not to love.
