A Moment Between

He found her hiding again. It was the second time that day, but he knew that she not only needed a small break but some major comforting as well. She was holding the hand-device in her hand, staring mournfully at it and the look on her face tugged at his heart. 'Poor Vala…' Daniel thought sadly. '…she's been trying so hard.' With a sigh, Daniel walked over to her and sat down starting the conversation off lightly.

"So…" Daniel began with a small smile. "…guess you were really telling me the truth about being a Goa'uld."

"Yes." Vala answered softly, her response torn between being amused that Daniel actually believed her and saddened at actually having been one. "I was. Her name was Katesh as I said…"

"…so I assume that the rest of what you told me was true too?" Daniel asked, prompting her to talk to him.

"Yes." Vala confirmed with a small nod, placing her forehead against the flat edge of the healing device. "Everything."

"So the-"

"-stoning." Vala finished looking up, tears glistening in her eyes. "Being spat on….my betrothed….."

"…that must have been hard." Daniel sympathised, placing a comforting arm around her shoulder. "Do you want to talk about it?"

"No." Vala answered forlornly, shaking her head. "Not just yet."

"Well, when you are-" Daniel gave a gentle smile and gave her shoulders a little squeeze. "-I'll be here to listen."

"Thank you Daniel." Vala stated full of appreciation as she stood up. "But I can't think of anything until these people are saved…."

And with that she was gone, off to heal more people with a rapidly failing hand device.

'If it hasn't failed already…'

And with that, Daniel rose from his seat and went to follow Vala, praying to whomever was listening (preferably someone friendly) that they would be able to save the occupants of this planet.
