The smell of copper burns my eyes and throat as I lay there in a pool of blood. The loud clashing of metal touching deafens me.
"Is this mine..?"
"Is it my friends...?"
"Why can't I move...?"
The harder I try to move...
The harder it is to stay awake...
"Is this the end...?"
"I didn't even get to say goodbye..."
I try my hardest to open my eyes but they don't budge. The copper smell worsens and the clashing becomes muffled. The faint sound of someone yelling echoes through my head.
"DAVID!"
"DAVID!"
"WAKE UP, DAVID!"
The darkness in my head blurs into the faces of my friends and family. After a few minutes of my memories, another picture starts to form. The picture I see its dark...twisted...raw.
"Where am I...?"
"Is this... the Fade?"
My thoughts rush as I try to understand what's happening. Am I dead or just dreaming? The Fade doesn't play nice with spirits not from the Black City... let alone from the Circle. I can hear the faint growling of the malicious spirits hunting for food. I can feel them as they slowly creep around me, looking for a chance to pounce. I try to think of what I was taught when I was in the Circle, however, none seem to surface.
The harder I think, the closer the spirits get. I can see as the Hunger demons enter my peripheral vision, few more steps I would be dead. I close my eyes waiting for the pain to engulf my spirit.
"..1...2...3..."
Nothing, I don't feel anything. I cautiously open my eyes and I see the demon staring at me. All I can wonder is why I am not dead. I force myself to inch closer to the demon, who knows I might be able to speed up the inevitable. I get closer and closer, I enter his personal space. He just watches and watches, breathing so hard I can feel its breath glide across my face. All I can do is stare into his eyes, they are burning with fear.
"Why is he...afraid?"
"Should I... touch it?"
"Should... I kill it?"
"Should... I... help him?"
So many questions rush to mind. Few seconds ago, I couldn't think and know I can't stop thinking. What is going on? I reach my hand out to him...
