Sentinel-A.K.A., Squiddy
Large machines that glide effortlessly through the air.
Look like giant, silver squids. Long tentacles, oval heads, several red eyes.
Weapons include claws that easily pierce flesh and lasers the come from the undersides of their heads.
Four sentinels glided over the city of 0-1.3., forming a pyramid of sorts.
"Wh3r3 ar3 w3 g01ng, Claw?" one beeped questioningly.
"0h, shut 1t, Optic," another responded.
"Qui3t, b0th 0f y0u," the one in front, Claw, whirred annoyedly.
The final one remained silent.
The four sentinels went from an organized pyramid to a rag-tag group. They glided into a maintenance pipe and grouped closer.
"W3 ar3 appr0ach1ng th3 3ntranc3," Optic reported.
"At l3ast y0u g0t s0m3th1ng r1ght, Optic," the one beside him muttered.
"Shut 1t, Duo," Optic snorted.
"Qu13t!" Claw shrilly beeped. "A sh1p 1s h3r3!"
All went silent.
"Tentacle, g3t m3 s0m3 scans, 1mm3d1atly," Claw whispered.
The silent sentinel dropped away from the group, just as they reached a cylindrical room made of stone. The sewers. Tentacle dropped to the bottom of the room and crouched behind a rock.
Optic and Claw continued gliding forward and through a tunnel on the other side, while Duo dropped to the bottom and went through a different tunnel.
Tentacle raised a tentacle and extended it around the rock. The claw shrank into the arm and was replaced with a satellite disk.
Moments later, Duo crept out from behind a rock, across from Tentacle. He nodded to the other sentinel and began creeping towards the crevice between them.
Tentacle's arm reeled in and the sentinel crept from his hiding place, following Duo into the crevice.
Inside the crevice sat a human hovercraft. It was powered down, but any machine would be able to tell that lifeforms were within.
Duo swiftly and silently crawled onto the hovercraft and fired his laser, cutting off a hoverpad.
Tentacle also crawled onto the hovercraft, but did not fire his laser. Instead, he was knocked out by an expanding sphere coming from the craft.
A sphere of electricity.
A sphere that every sentinel feared.
The craft had fired their EMP.
Tentacle's last memory was sliding off the ship, every eye he had flickering from power loss.
Then, he shut down.
