A/N: Unlike my usual stories, this isn't inspired off of a song. It's actually inspired by my feelings towards a girl I knew awhile ago. So, yes, I had been in the situation that Drew is in, in the story.
Under the Mistletoe
Drew stared at the Christmas ornament above her head. Should he point it out? He could just kiss her, and leave her to question why. But what if she doesn't like him? Should he just abandon the whole idea together?
He sat on a chair near the fireplace as he continued to contemplate his decision. At 17 years old, he believed he should have told his long time rival and crush, May, his feelings for her. Unfortunately, working up the courage to confess his feeling happened to be a lot harder than calling himself an idiot for not doing so, later.
He watched her groom her Skitty from across the room. He dug his hands into the side of the chair.
'Okay, you can do this' he attempted to convince himself. 'It's just a quick kiss. ' He was determined. He was going to do it. He was pumped. He was unable to move. 'What the hell? Why aren't I doing anything?' His hand remained plastered to the chair.
'Dammit, I'm not going to do it,' he thought, giving himself a reality check. He rolled his eyes at himself. It was a stupid idea in the first place, he told himself. After all, how many people had he actually seen do these weird Christmas stuff, anyway?
He continued to watch the brunette girl. She seemed like the type to follow those stupid Christmas traditions. She probably listened to Christmas music and wish everyone a very thoughtful "Happy Holidays". Hell, she probably even tortured her pokémon with those little Santa costumes or elf ears.
Drew sighed. At this point, he had given up on the idea of even giving her the gift that he has for her, wrapped up and in his room.
Well, he decided, the least he could do was greet the girl. He stood from his seat, straightening his purple polo shirt. He wanted to look impressive, even if she did she him in this attire quite often. As he walked steadily over to her, he began to think of a cool approach that she may find suitable.
His footsteps seem to have caught her attention. She looked up.
"Drew! Hey!" she greeted. Drew gave a nod of his head.
"Hello, May," he replied, abandoning any internal script he had laid out. Skitty began to run around him fervently, making hyperactive cat noises as it did so.
As he remained distracted by the pokémon's pacing, May kissed him. It was so sudden, so random, that he was too surprised to return the favor.
As she pulled back, she gave him a cute smile. Drew was shocked. He knew his face was probably red, as her's was. She seemed to pass it off, however.
"Uh...What was that for?" he questioned. May giggled as she pointed up at the Christmas ornament.
"Mistletoe, silly!" she told him. "It's tradition!"
He let put a breathe of air, meant to be a laugh, as he looked up at the green plant. Perhaps holiday traditions weren't so stupid, after all.
A/N:
Yeah, well, my ending in this situation wasn't quite as happy as theirs was. After all, they get pokémon.
I'm not sure if May is out of character or not. Sometimes, I feel as though she would be bold enough to do some kind of action like this as a joke. Anyway, reviews and harsh criticism welcome. Happy Holidays.
