Disclaimer: I don't own the characters. They belong to J. K. Rowling.

Pairing: Barty Crouch Jr/Winky.

Why: Think of it as a plot bunny that wouldn't go away after someone (glances in alys wonder's direction) said that if Winky was in the GoF movie, her voice would be played by Billie Piper. Over romantic, and not really my usual style, but hey, it is crack!fic.

The Truth

Winky took another swig of the bottle in front of her, before gazing forlornly into the fire she was supposed to be tending before the 6th year Hufflepuff's came back to their dormitory. She was thinking of her Master again and that always made her sad.

Most people believed it to be because she was set free some months ago, but that isn't the truth. It was being separated from her lover forever. Her Master, who was her one and only true love.

Dobby was of her own kind, but was not right for her. She had tried though, but the other House Elf was too much obsessed with the one who made her feel like this. She could never forgive Harry Potter for this pain she was feeling.

She got up and made her way to the kitchens, which were now her home. Filled with her own race, she truly shouldn't feel as low as she did, and they were all trying to help her move on, but it just wasn't working. There was only one person's comfort she wanted.

She was surprised to see a wizard in the kitchens. The frightening one with the wooden leg that thumped everywhere he went, and the eye that could see through the back of his head. She was thinking it might be a good idea to hide under her blanket, when he looked in her direction and smiled a smile that reminded her of a shark.

"Ah! Just the House Elf I wanted to see. Winky, if you will follow me up to my room, I want to show you something that may or may not cheer you up."

Gulping slightly, but unused to being able to say no, she nodded her head and followed him to the room he had been given to stay in while teaching here at the school. It was decorated with gear to help hunt dark wizards. It made her feel angry that people thought of her Master as a dark wizard. Her Master had always been kind to her.

As soon as the door closed behind them, she was leant over and given a big kiss, right on the lips. She squeaked at the move, surprised at just why someone who was to her a bad man, would even want to kiss her.

It was then that it happened. Features shifted and changed, becoming those of her Barty Jr. "Master? Is this some trick you play on Winky, Sir?"

"Trick? You? Of course not. You know me, Winky. I am using Polyjuice Potion to masquerade as that bad Moody. I will get my hands on Harry Potter and send him to our Lord by the end of the school year, you just see that I don't."

Winky took this in and smiled. "Oh Master!" she cried happily as she let herself be wrapped in his embrace. "I love you."

He got down on his knees, put his hands on her small shoulders and smiled that wide grin of his. "And you, my dear Winky. I love you too."

They stayed together that night, but Winky knew, knew, that it was just for this one night. In essence her Master was saying goodbye.

She would never get to see him in his true form, except at the end of it all.

She would treasure that night forever.

It was all she had left.
