Author's Note: Hiya, people! I have returned! I (AppleDapple) am doing a collaboration story with my friend Shadow Melon. This story, called Double Memories is a self-insert story in Fairy Tail. It's slightly AU because in this story, Fairy Tail never disbanded.

Anyway... I am writing most of the story with several side stories written by Shadow Melon (Melon). I hope you like it! Without further ado...

Chapter One: Research Woes

Disclaimer: I don't get the point of these. If I owned these characters, I would be writing fanfition... but, I don't (sad face) own anyone from Fairy Tail, besides my own creations

I groan and slam my forehead down on the huge encyclopedia in front of me. "I am thoroughly SICK of diabetes!"

My friend Amelia, commonly known as Mel, frowns. "Annie, quiet down! We're in a LIBRARY."

"I KNOW that. Sorry. I'm just sick of research." I say.

The two of us are working together on a research paper for school. Our topic is Type One Diabetes. I was initially excited about said topic, since I have a brother with the condition, but my sitting still skills are limited.
"Ooh. Interesting." Mel says.

"What?" I inquire, not bothering to look up.

"Apparently, artificial insulin was first made from pigs." (A/N: that is a 100% true and somewhat useless fact)

"I already knew that."

"No you didn't!" She scoffs.

I sit up and scowl at her. "Are you calling me a liar?" I ask, pretending to be offended.

"How could you have known something like that?"

I give her a 'really?' look. "My younger brother has Type One Diabetes, genius."

Me chuckles at herself. "Oh, right."

I lay my head back down. "I'm bored."

"You could try dong more research." my friend shoots back. The two of us stare at each other for a moment, then bust out laughing.

"Yeah, like that's ever gonna happen!" I chortle.

An annoyed librarian scowls at us and we try to stifle our giggles. Mel bites down on the sleeve of her sweat shirt and I stuff my head in to my messenger bag.

After a good three minutes of muted chuckles, we finally calm down. I pull my head out of my bag. "I want to read some manga." I say dreamily.

"Me too." Mel replies.

I jump out of my chair. "Race ya!"

"Hey! You had a head start!"

I skid to a stop in front of the manga aisle, causing Mel to slam in to me. "What the hell, Annie?" she cries, stumbling back.

I glance over my shoulder at her annoyed face. "Tsk, tsk, Amelia! Such language!"

"Shut up, Hobbit!" She snaps, making fun of my height (or lack there of).

I grin. I know she's not really mad. "Being a Hobbit would be BEYOND awesome." I state. "You'd get seven meals a day."

"How do you know these things?"

"I may be a LITTLE addicted to The Lord of the Rings."

"A little?"

"Okay, a lot."

"So, why did you stop walking? You shouldn't do that." Mel asks.

"Why? Cuz people would walk into me?"

"No. They'd trip over you."

"I'm not going to take offense at that, on the grounds that THE LIBRARY FINALLY GOT THE NEXT VOLUME OF FAIRY TAIL!" I say, the last part in a whisper-shout.

"Really?!" Mel squeals.

I point up at the shelf in front of me. "Lo and behold, fellow fangirl. Volume the next."

Mel's face cracks into a grin and she holds her hand up for a high-five. I comply. She winces. "Geez. You always high-five too hard."

"Weak."

"Hey!"

I ignore my indignant friend and grab the book down. Flipping it over to the front, I open to the first page. Mel peers over my shoulder and the two of us scan the introduction. Well, I do. Mel grumps. All of a sudden, I feel a tingling behind my eyes. I blink. What the-?

Mel shakes her head and huffs. "I've go a weird feeling, Annie." She says.

"Me too." I move to replace the book, when suddenly there's a rush of wind and a flash of light that explodes into darkness.
