Heard you all loud and clear. A little GRIGSBY for our battered ship. It will start slow, but hopefully the bunnies will get happier. This one is a short chapter. I am not even sure how long this one will be, but the bunnies will need encouragement. It began with that scene with them talking in the last episode.

Getting Over It – Chapter 1
Jane knew right away. Cho guessed, but it was after a while. Lisbon finally learned accidentally about Wayne. It wasn't like he was deliberately keeping it a secret. But he wasn't sure how it would be taken. He thought it best to keep the whole thing on the down low.
It began right after they got the team reinstated and working again for Lisbon. It began with a remark she made in passing about her Godfather. When she said she would have him sign off on the paper to be cleared psychologically, he knew she wasn't near ready. It was a small and visible chink in the pretend armor she had put up. They were all supposed to believe she had moved on that easily. He knew her better than that.
He casually 'ran into her' running a few days later in the park. He had discovered she was no longer running near her home. To many bad memories, he supposed. It made it easier to pretend the meeting was by chance. It was a run or two at first. Then they sat on a bench and just didn't talk at all.
It was the second time they went for coffee that she finally said something. They were going to run when the weather turned on them. They ducked into the coffee shop across from the park. As usual, they didn't say much at first. Finally, she sighed.
"Grace? If you want, well to say anything about anything, I am here."
He figured that was as much of an opening as he would allow. He was right.
"Oh, no, not you too."
"What?"
"Everyone and their brother want me to 'talk about it'. I should be talking and talking and moving on. I am so sick of it. Look, here it is. I was engaged to a man who was only interested in me because a serial killer ordered him to. I was stupid enough to fall for the guy, and oh my God, get engaged to him. Then, I have to shoot him. And I should move on? Ok, I have. Can we all talk about something else now?"
Wayne sat back from his coffee and said nothing. She was angry and absolutely not moved on. When she finally looked up and made eye contact with him, it was with a small sad smile. It tore at his heart to see her so miserable.
"I'm sorry Wayne. You are being a real friend here. You haven't said anything. You have just been there and I was being a bitch."
"No, Grace. This whole thing has been hell. I don't want to add to it. I am willing to talk if you want and not talk if you want. Whatever you need."
"Yeah, thanks. I mean it. I treated you horribly and you are an amazing friend."
Her smile was a little shaky, but closer to a real smile than he had seen in a long time. The word friend was another little arrow to an already bruised heart. But he figured he was strong, right? What's the point of this strength if you can't use it for something good. She wasn't good yet. But one day she would be and that's when he would stop being just a friend. Eventually, she would see more. Wayne had a plan.
I hope the next one is longer. I hope this makes sense you all. I hope even more you feed me and the bunnies with reviews and chocolates?
