A/N: Hey guys FINALLY an InuYasha/Kagome fic. Bit sad but bear with me.
Disclaimer: Yes I too hate the oh so ever downing task of being reminded that I tragically do not own this wonderful anime known as InuYasha or this very pretty song Just a Dream by Carrie Underwood.
Kagome knew that InuYasha was strong enough (and crazy enough too I might add) to go after the demon that had been terrorizing a nearby village. Not to mention having his perverted best friend as his side kick. But all that couldn't stop her from worrying about him.
What did she have left if he didn't return?
What reason did she have to stay in this time if he was no longer around?
She loved him that much she knew
But as she and Sango sat there watching the sun sink behind the far off mountains the black cloud of doubt hung above the two best friends.
Then as a silhouette appeared before them, limping slowly but steadily up the slight hill towards them that doubt cloud blew away. Sango ran at Miroku, planting a relieved kiss on his lips.
Kagome slowly made her way towards them, tears already forming in her eyes. Miroku let go of Sango gave Kagome the saddest look before enveloping her in his arms in a comforting hug. Sango knew what had happened judging by the way he had embraced her best friend.
When Miroku let go Sango took over, embracing her friend trying to calm her down.
Disbelief was all she knew at first, then heartache, sadness, loss, grief and finally depression as the days wore on, longer and longer they grew. They couldn't have a proper burial for her beloved as according to the monk who had been recounting the story to Sango; his body had been gobbled up greedily by the demon.
The silent tears just wouldn't stop and she knew that one day she would have to return to her era to let her mum know what had happened, but she just couldn't bring herself to leave this time. Her mourning had to be shared with the friends she knew would understand. Her other friends wouldn't be so sympathetic.
She sat on the edge of the Bone Eaters Well contemplating her choices. She sat there then without even realising it she began to sing just a chorus of a song that she had once heard.
Baby, why'd you leave me? Why'd you have to go? It's like I'm lookin' from a distance, standin' in the background
I was countin' on forever, now I'll never know
I can't even breathe
Everybody's sayin', he's not comin' home now
This can't be happenin' to me, this is just a dream
Though she knew it wasn't a dream, but she so desperately wanted it to be.
Once again I have no idea how to finish this so I'll just leave it there.
Please remember to review.
