I'm poison. No matter who it is that gets close to me they end up poisoned wether it be literally or metaphorically they ALWAYS end up poisoned
"I like the poison Jayne"
"What in the gorram hell does that mean?"
"The river was flowing out of control...until one man stepped in and stopped the flood."
"What kind of crazy are you speaking now?"
"Not crazy, truth"
Jayne stayed silent just watching her as she twirled about the hull. She was watching him before she spoke. He like it better when she was watching him not spouting out crazy like she was or at least he thought she was.
"Not crazy Jayne"
He hadn't even noticed she stopped twirling and stood right in front of him.
"Well then what is it? Huh? It's nonsense that no one can understand"
"You know, you just don't want to. You hide it away in a Cupboard of your mind and hide away those feelings you know you want"
"What...feelings?"
"She dances he smiles, she sings he smiles, she's hurt he's hurt, no one can know no one knows but her and she likes it that way but he doesn't"
"Who are we talking about here moonbrain?"
"We..."
"Excuse me!?"
"I like the poison... I pick my poison Jayne"
"What poison? Did you eat something wrong?"
She sat on his lap before she spoke again.
"I pick you Jayne"
"For what? Why me? What did I do?"
"You are my friend but you're more than that. You are the dam that stops the flood"
Jayne had no idea what she was talking about all those riddles churning in his mind. But suddenly his mind was cleared when she stopped talking an leaned down to kiss him.
He kissed back realizing now why he was always so happy around her and why he loved the way she danced.
He loved her.
" Jayne...I pick my poison...and it's you...you have to admit that I'm better now right?"
"Yeah I suppose so why?"
"You, you made me better. Sometimes the poison that you think will kill you makes you see clearer but even though you may loose, you're happy all the way through... I wanna be happy Jayne"
"I think I can manage that"
Later at dinner Jayne walks in last and sits down quietly or as quietly as a man like Jayne can be. He watches river out of the corner of his eye.
Without looking up she whispered just loud enough for Jayne Simon and Mal to hear as they were the closest to her.
"Poison"
Jayne smiled slightly being the only one to know what it meant.
"What the hell does that mean?" Mal questioned
"Uhh river are you okay?" Simon said concerned
"I got no ruttin' idea" Jayne replied still smiling at her.
