Author: Pinkcat4569
Description: Traditions that the ARC staff carry out during the holidays are as varied and different as the people.
Rating: G
Character: Emily
Disclaimer: I write only for fun. I don't own Primeval or the characters.
Author's Note: Emily's story in the Traditions series. It is very short, less than one page. If you like it, check out Abby and Connors, which is a bit longer. Jess and Becker is next, and its much longer. I have an idea for Lester, but I'm drawing a blank on Matt. Thanks!

Traditions 2: Emily-Caring for the Lost
It began with the people she'd joined traveling through the anomalies. They looked after each other, they had to. Normally it was surviving: finding food, defending themselves and each other from predators, tending the sick, and so on.
Sometimes though, it was giving simple, small words of encouragement or acts of kindness. She shared the last piece of kill with someone who'd been hurt. She washed the mud off a friend's forehead. Once she gave her coat to a woman whose husband had been killed earlier that day.
Then she settled in 21 century London. She had a steady home, love, work, and friends. She felt safe and even comfortable. She was no longer lost.
One day Jess had taken her shopping. They walked to Jess' car, past a man huddled in a corner. He wore a torn, much too light-weight coat in the cold and shoes with holes. She could see the bottoms of his feet.
That's when a new tradition began. With Jess' help, she located organizations that helped the homeless and hungry. She made money donations, and then again, with Jess' eager help, she purchased blankets, clothing, boots, gloves, and so on. She took large donations of food as well.
Then she organized a food and clothing drive at the ARC. Lester blustered about it at first, but then he was very proud at how much the ARC raised.
Emily took all the donations in herself. Jess didn't like going with her. The condition of the people, sometimes scraggly and a bit dirty, did not bother Emily. She had been in worse conditions then they. She volunteered her time, passing out food and clothing and spending time with the shelter occupants.
She became a fixture. They looked forward to her visits. Some could not understand why someone of her elegance and charm would spend so much time and concern on them.
They did not know that once she had been more lost than they.
The End.
Next: Jess and Becker. It's long!
