The wind rustled through each twin's hair. It was only a breeze, a ripple in the silence of summer that, when it came, was welcomed by each and every person. It provided that bit of cool to the ravishing hot day that could even be described as oppressive in the midday heat. Kaoru smiled as the current of air brushed over his face. It lifted up his fringe that was growing a little too long and as the light gust disappeared it flopped over his eyes.
Hikaru lifted up his hand. He brushed the hair from his brother's eyes carefully and smiled at him. Kaoru closed his eyes with a content sigh and smiled back. Heat radiated off the two like burgers on a barbeque.
It was a surprisingly quiet location considering the weather was so delightful. However, it had taken them long enough to find it and even then it wasn't particularly on purpose. They'd been wandering the grounds, desperately looking for a quiet place to spend their free periods. Why was it that when they had their free periods so did everyone else in the school? Eventually, after the climbing of many different staircases that led to nowhere of any prominent interest Hikaru had leaned on a wooden gate.
The gate was old and rusted as it stood in the depths of the cross country woods. On first sight it had seemed jammed as the bottom plank of wood had fallen down, wedged into the hard ground from years of soil building up aroundit, blocking it from opening. As Hikaru leaned on the gate the lodged piece of wood snapped cleanly in two and the entrance swung open.
Hikaru blinked at his brother as the secret paradise was revealed. He quickly got to his feet and returned to Kaoru's side who has plainly stepped over him to investigate.
"Where do you think we are?" Asked Kaoru as he stared dumbstruck by the scenery.
"Somewhere no-one has been for a very long time." Replied Hikaru, his expression just the same.
"How long?"
"Maybe 5 years?"
"10?"
"25?"
"50?"
"Maybe even 100!" Exclaimed Hikaru loudly. A bird flew out of a tall tree and went off into the direction of the school grounds. It squawked as it left making the twins jump a little in surprise. The two boys took to exploring quickly. The colours were brighter, the grass was greener, the sky was bluer and the constant chatter of the wildlife never died down.
So, the twins found themselves laying in the sunshine on their backs. Kaoru's head rested on Hikaru's chest while Hikaru's own lay on one of his arms. The other was resting across his brother's chest. The book that Kaoru held up high for them to read ("Gee-wizz! Geography!") blocked out the sun from their eyes and allowed the two to sit in comfort.
"I'm bored of reading, Hikaru! Plus, my arms are getting tired." Moaned Kaoru with a frown as the book fell to the ground, the pages splaying out across the Earth. It lay forgotten about on the side as Kaoru rolled over onto his stomach. He was two inches from his brother's face. Hikaru gave a small smirk before kissing Kaoru's lips where he lay. His lips were warm from the heat of the sun and Kaoru positively glowed with delight. It shone in the boy's eyes as he opened them once more after the kiss. Hikaru's arms had wound themselves around Kaoru's neck pulling the boys closer together. Neither of them complained.
"Are you bored anymore?" Asked Hikaru innocently, his head tilted to the left in positive curiousity.
"Oh no. Not anymore."
