***The Odessy***
The sky over Washington D.C. hung low, it's midnight blue hue was flecked by millions of tiny stars that seemed to blanket the already glowing city with even more light. For one Special Agent, looking out at the night sky meant that he was just returning from a very very long day at work. As he crawled into his bed, a semi comfy pallet he had haphazardly constructed beneath the skeletal frame of his boat, his cell phone began to ring. Having a very long workday, one that had seemed to morph itself into a three day affair, and being short an agent didn't leave him in a very good mood. Not surprisingly he bit a curt greeting to the caller on the other line.
"Gibbs." he grouched.
"Nice to hear your voice dad." came a voice he knew all to well.
"Lexi?" he queried just to make certain the lack of sleep and the insane amounts of coffee over the past three days hadn't messed with his mind too much.
"It's really me dad." Lexi said with a smile, "You really need to lay off the coffee." she added.
"Alexis Rose, I know you didn't call me all the way from South Africa to talk about my coffee consumption. What's going on?"
"Well, we found someone who knows you." Lexi stated, "I'd tell you, but she wants to say hello herself. She won't rest until I let her talk." Gibbs heard rustling as Lexi passed the phone to another person.
"Gibbs?" the voice on the other line was barely above a whisper, yet it was unmistakeable.
"Ziva." Gibbs swallowed past the lump that suddenly and uncharactersticly formed in his throat. Sleep left the older man as soon as he heard her voice. He could hear her breathing on the other line, as if she were crying. Lexi got back on the line and explained that Ziva was still to weak to speak.
"Where in South Africa are you Lexi?"
"Near Lesoto." Lexi replied.
"Is she strong enough to travel?"
"No unfortunatly not." Lexi answered, "You want to bring her home?"
"Absolutly." Gibbs stated, he grabbed his coat and holster. "Keep her there. We're coming to you."
"I will." Lexi agreed. "She's safe here."
"I love you Lexi." Gibbs said before he hung up.
"I love you too dad." Lexi replied, "Oh dad! While she's sleeping, she keeps repeating a name over and over."
"Who?" Gibbs asked, thinking it was her dead boyfriend Michael Rivkin.
"Tony."
