Sam was enjoying watching the 4th of July fireworks go off as she sat by her longtime, best friend Jake. They had managed to let Sam's parents, mainly Wyatt, let Sam stay with the Elys for the 4th of July. "The best are coming up." said Quinn. Sam nodded in agreement. There was a big BANG as one of the fireworks shot off into the sky. Sam flinched and Jake tightened the grip of his arm around her shoulders and looked at her to make sure she was all right. "What?" Sam asked. "Nothin' just makin' sure you are all right." Jake replied. She grinned,nodded, and then went back to watching the colors explode in the sky. Jake's attention,however, had shifted and he just kept looking at Sam. Feeling his eyes watching her, Sam looked back at him and asked "Everything all right?' "Yeah, everything's fine." was Jake's reply. Sam gave him a look that said she wasn't convinced and said "You sure? Cuz ya ain't looking at the fireworks and this will be the last time you'll see them before you go to college." Jake just smiled and said "I'll miss ya more than these fireworks." Sam smiled and gazed at the finale of the fireworks. Jake to switched his attention to the fireworks.
On the way home Quinn kept bouncing up and down. He was apparently excited about having Sam over. Since it was Thursday and Sam didn't have school on Friday she was staying until Sunday night with them. Jake gave Quinn a look that said "What are you so excited about?" Quinn just grinned really big and started making plans on what they should do. In the middle of making the list Nate said "Whoa, don't ya think Sam would like to relax a lil?" Quinn gave Nate a look like "What are you talking about?" and kept talking. Sam was laughing and said "Do you think we'll be able to sleep any?" Quinn just replied "Yeah, i guess, you can take a nap now using Jake as a pillow. Then we should be good to go so we don't have to." Sam blushed and Jake shot Quinn an evil look.
By the time everyone got back to Three Ponies Ranch it was 1 o'clock in the morning. Sam stifled a yawn and asked "Where's the bed?" Bryan just smiled and said "Mom and Dad said we can all sleep in the living room." "Aww, you serious? Why can't we sleep in our beds?" Quinn asked. "Because Mom didn't want Sam to be in downstairs in the living room all by herself. It gets kinda creepy down there."Jake replied. The boys and Sam quietly walked up to the house and went in. Once in, Jake locked the door and told Sam to go change into her pjs. Bryan sighed. All the boys got the living room all ready and was getting a snack in the kitchen when Sam walked out. "You guys just ate an hour ago!" she said. "Yeah, so?" Bryan said. Nate grinned and said "We are growing boys." Jake rolled his eyes and told Sam where everyone would be sleeping. She ended up between Jake and Bryan with Nate being by Bryan's other side and Quinn on Jake's. Then all the boys went to their rooms and changed. When they walked downstairs Sam said "So what do you think about going swimming tomorrow?" "Sure." was the reply of all four boys. "Could we ask Jen and Darrell to go?" "Sure, why not?" Nate said. Then they all settled down and slept 'till the next morning.
