A/N: This is what happens when I am left to play boss, I write stories instead of working.

With her hand still loosely grasping on to the brass handle she looked into heaven.

It was the perfect imitation of her childhood fantasy.
Her mother lounging elegantly on their sofa, her paperwork relegated to the coffee table as Caroline folded her legs under her to make room for Alex.
Tim, her father sat a foot away at the opposite end of the settee, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe in one hand as he patted the sofa cushion with an inviting smile.
When she was eight this was where she wanted to be. This was the heaven she had created when she was a little girl and it was sat there waiting.
To the left of her family there was the clink of glasses as Nelson served his new customers, all unaware of the little island to the side.
Alex had done a lot of growing up, she had a different heaven now.
"We're waiting for you, Alex."
The colour bleached from her face. What she was looking for was not behind this door.

Her heaven was the bleeding of two worlds, Gene's and Molly's. If she steps over the fresh hold she will not find either of them there and thank god will not.
Gene had a job to do, a whole world to clear of 'scum' and Molly had a real life to live and even if it were possible Alex would never be selfish enough to take that away from her.

"Alex?" It is the warm, loving voice of her father, but beneath it she can hear the metallic mockery of the clown.
She loves her father, but she had not excused what he had done.
Her mother disappears without even a puff of smoke. Alex stood and watched as her father's face whitened and she knows what this is, it is Keats last temptation.
He was not foolish enough to offer her Molly again and Alex will not be tricked twice.
The pub is heaven and her Dad should not be there. Her family was a mirage, a last ditch attempt at securing Alex's soul or whatever it is that Keats is so determined to win.

She lets go. The evening air chilly against the warmth of her palm. Heaven, well it can wait.

"We're a team, you said so yourself," Alex called to Gene, the truest of smiles on her lips as she caught his reply.
"Unbreakable, Bolly" He smiled back, but it was sad until Alex began to stride purposely towards him, then it became confused. "What are you doing?"
"Going against your orders, Guv." Alex pulled her coat together against the breeze. "And you," she poked his shoulder gently, "You stubborn man will never admit it, but you need me," she stroked her hand across his jaw, "and I need you. So quit being a bastard and order me to stay. I might break a habit of a life time and do as you say."
Gene pouted, but there was no real annoyance behind it. His gaze flickered down to her pink mouth and back up to her green and hazel eyes.
"Stay," he said and kissed the future being offered on her lips.
