*a/n so I took a break from my teen titans/zelda story. My brain had enough of it. 46 pages was more than enough to drain me of ideas. My friend was writing most of it but here is a quick look into my world of dragon age. Of course I don't own anything.
Her blue eyes seemed to catch every little movement in the dark cave. My elvhen ears could hear the muffled steps of her boots, her calm breathing; they could even hear the rustle of fabric as she moved her muscular but lithe body. What they couldn't hear was the beautiful warrior's heartbeat. I pondered at the thought of having my head rested upon Hawke's chest and falling asleep to the steady rhythm of her heartbeat. I shook my head to clear it. No need to have these silly thoughts on a person that will never return your feelings.
I let out a soft sigh and nearly bumped into Hawke. Oh Creators, did she hear me?
"Merrill is everything alright?" she asked, her hand rising to sweep a lock of hair out of my eyes and tucked it behind my ear.
It was only the two of us. We came down here to look for Deep Mushrooms but found nothing. I was lost in thought most of the time, staying silent. I realized I was holding my breath and let it out.
"Oh yes Hawke. I'm fine." I told her.
I wish I could just tell her everything, starting at the day of Sundermount; the day I fell for the most beautiful, clever, and funny woman in the world.
I let out another sigh. Hawke's blue eyes looked at me with much concern. Her hand went to my cheek and held it gently, easing my frustration. Did she have feelings for me?
"Merrill, please tell me what's on your mind." she said, her thumb rubbing my cheekbone.
I shivered at her touch and looked away; I couldn't tell her. She would cast me away like an injured mabari. I didn't want to lose her friendship.
Her hand went under my chin and tilted my head so our eyes would meet. Her eyes were so beautiful, even better than the open blue sky.
I leaned forward and buried my head in her chest. I could feel heat crawling to my cheeks and to the tip of my pointed ears. She wrapped her sturdy arms around my waist and slowly rubbed my back. I shivered again at her touch.
"I wanted to tell you since Sundermount." I mumbled against the base of her neck. She smelt so much like the beginning of spring.
"Tell me what?" I could hear the smile in her words.
I looked up and saw her brilliant blue eyes and a smile on her lips. I blushed again and she giggled, her hand moving back to rest on my cheek.
"You are so cute when you blush Merrill."
"Y-you really think so?" I asked, feeling my face get hotter.
She smiled and brushed her lips against my searing forehead.
"What were you wanting to tell me since that wonderful and fateful day at Sundermount?"
My heart sped up and I smiled up at her, "That I fell in love with the most beautiful, clever, funny, lovely, wonderful, and brave woman in the world."
"I'm not as near as beautiful as you are Merrill. The way your emerald green eyes sparkle in the sunlight, the way you make elvhen words flow from your perfect lips, the grace in your steps, and your caring for others before yourself makes your beautiful." she said as her hands rested on my hips, pulling me closer to her.
Her voice dropped to a whisper, "You are perfect in my eyes."
Her lips captured mine in a tender kiss. My arms snaked around her neck and I felt her hand rest on my cheek for a third time. Hawke made me feel safe. Even on that day at Sundermount, she made feel safe.
She pulled away, letting us catch our breath. Her forehead rested against mine and we gazed at each other lovingly. Her fingers slid down my arm and twined them with mine.
"I won't ever leave you Merrill. I promise."
I believed her. She had my heart and I had hers. Nothing could hurt us. We were together and nothing else mattered but the warmth of her hand in mine.
