Shinji x Kaji
Click. Shinji's SDAT player switched over to another song while he dropped a second tear. His hand was tightened around the SDAT player and he was laying on top of his bed, clinging on to the sheets like a mental person. There were so many thoughts raging through his already troubled mind while he was sobbing about that one memory.
[Flashback]
Shinji was sitting on a small bench in the hallway, across from the wall, his back turned to several coffee machines when Kaji approached him. Shinji didn't even hear him coming with his ear buds in his ears and that one classic song playing. The young boy gasped when he saw Kaji's hand next to his face, holding a narrow can of UCC coffee. He immediately turned his head to see Kaji standing in front of him with that everlasting smooth grin on his slightly bearded face. Shinji wasn't given the time to say anything.
"Yo! Why don't we go on a date sometime?"
Shinji stiffened at those words, but at the same time felt his cheeks starting to burn. He couldn't possibly be serious.
"But, I'm a guy..."
Shinji muttered, a few meaningless words, and widened his blue eyes when Kaji leaned forward, taking Shinji's hand and placing it beside him, on the bench.
"No problem."
Kaji's face was now awfully close to Shinji's. The boy could feel himself getting flustered as he heard Kaji speak again, now barely paying attention to what he was saying.
"Gender has nothing to do with love."
Kaji chuckled at the boy's facial reactions. He was about to scream when Kaji pulled away his hand and shook his head, his broad shoulders shaking with laughter. Somehow, Shinji felt hurt. He stayed quiet, his facial expression turning from embarrassed into humiliated. Unfortunately Kaji was too busy chuckling to notice that. The grown man casually placed the iron can on the bench and left, not before having the last word.
"Just kidding."
Shinji didn't smile again that day.
[End flashback]
Shinji watered up again at the sound of the same song he had been listening that one day. He was staring in front of him, not noticing the shocked Asuka that was standing in the door opening. She could hear Shinji whisper while she quietly closed the door and shuffled away from his room.
"You were never serious..."
Author's notes: Yeah I know this never really happened, but there are not enough Shinji x Kaji fics out there ! ò_ó
So I figured why not let Shinji suffer from a one-sided love? Kaji!
