Drew.
So misunderstood, so forgotten.
Drew was known as the one who changed the Aphrodite cabin.
In a bad way.
Everyone thought Drew as stuck up, and that she was a heartless monster.
But buried deep, deep in her soul, lay a golden heart.
A golden heart unable to break free of the silver shackles pulling it down.
Drew was what she always wanted to be.
All the campers thought the Aphrodite kids were perfect, with perfect lives.
Ha. If only they knew.
Take Drew's life, for example.
Before coming to camp, Drew felt like eternal punishment from Hades's torturers was nothing compared to her emotional wreck of a life.
She was nothing more than a pretty face, and she was an outcast after the horrid rumors spread.
Yes, sometimes you could use charmspeak to your advantage, but Drew just couldn't.
She.. she knew these people for so long, so she couldn't just force them to do something.
Drew was hated and had no one to confide to.
Her father had left her at an orphanage after finding out that her all-powerful mother was Aphrodite.
Drew was alone.
Then, Camp Half-Blood.
It happened so quickly, the satyr and the journey to the safe haven.
Then when she arrived, there were others.
There were others who were different, like her.
Others with absent parents, others who also held sorrow.
For one week, everything was fine.
She stayed in the Hermes cabin and made new friends.
Then she was claimed.
Stupid Aphrodite.
After Drew was claimed, everything changed.
People treated her differently, noticing her beauty and treating her like a, well, goddess.
Drew couldn't stand it.
If people treated her differently, then she would just have to change.
So she began using her charmspeak, and began making little changes to the Aphrodite cabin even before Silena died.
Then, the war.
The war was hard, and during the battle, Drew almost returned to normal.
Then, Silena died.
Grief of her sister adding to her own solid depression hurt, and the war changed camp.
Drew, second oldest, became the counselor of the Aphrodite cabin.
Then Percy Jackson had disappeared.
Drew hadn't known him personally, but knew of him.
Especially of Annabeth, with her oh so sharp knife that scared Drew into shutting up.
Drew had turned into the wicked queen of the fairy tale, because then came Piper.
Piper, without flaws.
Piper, with natural beauty.
Piper, with Jason.
Then she was claimed by Aphrodite and Drew was shocked by her own shock.
Why was she so surprised?
Piper was a perfect daughter of Aphrodite, beauty and soul.
What was Drew?
Nothing.
But she fought.
She fought when Piper casually decided she was to be the new counselor after coming back from her quest.
But when Piper explained what it truly meant to be a daughter of Aphrodite, Drew already knew.
It had been within her the whole time, inside the chained heart of gold.
And so Drew finally understood, even if others didn't realize she did.
