Finding Him

Mitchie's POV

"Where's Shane?" I asked Nate as I sat down on the edge of the Beach Jam stage.

"Jason got his hand stuck in a bird house, he's trying to help him get it out." Nate explained while taking a seat next to me.

Our legs were touching. Normally I wouldn't have really noticed that, but something was different today.

"Wow, I don't even wanna know what he was trying to do." I laughed while looking around. We were alone. That was weird. There were no other campers in sight.

"Yeah, everyone is over there taking pictures on their phones." He chuckled. His smile seemed extra bright today. In fact, he looked a lot more attractive then usual today. Maybe he was doing something different with his hair?

"When's the concert start?" I asked while brushing off some dirt from my pants.

"In a few hours." He simply answered while looking at me. I was suddenly very aware of everything I did. His gaze made me feel twice as heavy.

"Mitchie..." He started to say something more, but closed his mouth and looked away. Something like guilt was shining in his brown eyes. "I was wondering...if you weren't with Shane..." He trailed off.

"If I wasn't with Shane...what?" I asked while looking up at him.

He gave me a small smile before looking me straight in the eye, "Would you ever be with me?"

I opened my mouth to say something, but nothing came out. I couldn't talk. Words failed to come out. My brain turned to goo.

"No, don't answer that." He sighed while standing up. "It wasn't right of me to ask that. Just forget it." He replied, his sad eyes looking at the ground.

"Nate...I..." I tried to say something, anything, but my mouth and mind wouldn't cooperate.

I desperatly wanted to tell him the real answer, yes. I liked Nate, a lot. I'd always liked him better then Shane, but I never really did anything about it. I'd always felt like I had the wrong member of Connect 3. I tried to tell him that, but couldn't.

"It's okay, I get it. You're with Shane. I'm sorry, I was just being stupid. I'll just...go." He awkwardly turned to leave.

"I would." I blurted out. He turned to look at me. A gentle smile came to his lips.

"Really?" He asked in disbelief. He moved to where he was right in front of me. I reached out and grabbed his hands.

"Really." I smiled before pulling on his arms. His face came forward and I pressed my lips against his. My heart felt like it stopped.

He pulled back, a toothy smile greeted me. And that was saying something, Nate never showed his teeth. I wondered why. He had such a beautiful smile.

"Um...so...Shane?" He asked, a nervous tone to his voice.

"Is history." I answered while pushing my lips against his again. Finally, the world seemed to be at peace around me. Nate made me feel like I was up on a cloud. Better then Shane Gray had ever made me feel.

I think I finally found the right member of Connect 3.

AN: I wasn't too excited about writing this, and it came out shorter then I thought it would be, but I did say I'd do any requested pairing.
