Building a Family
A/N Both a companion piece and a sequel to "Dealing With Jack" (which is a sequel to Waiting For It To Be Over) the story itself is set after "Dealing With Jack' but there will be a good deal of flashbacks that fill in more of Sharon and Andy's story from the end of season 2 through season 3. Not my characters! Happy Shandy Sunday
Sharon woke up and reached for Andy but found the bed empty beside her. She turned over and looked at the clock, 10:00 it read. She smiled Andy could never sleep in and it was one of her favorite luxuries on a day off. She was sure he had been up for a couple of hours. He was such a morning person and well she was most definitely not he had learned that on their first morning together.
'Good Morning" he had said enthusiastically and all he received back from her was a muffled response that he couldn't really make out. "Well not the response I was hoping for after last night." He said with a slight laugh curling up behind her kissing the back of her neck. "Andy, it's too early" she whined slightly. "Never" he whispered in her ear continuing to kiss her until she finally rolled over.
"You couldn't have mentioned that you were a morning person before now?" She asked him with a smile.
"I guess never came up" he said before kissing her fully on the mouth running a hand up her side
"Andy, you really should go." She said quietly
He was taken back and looked her in the eyes, "Hey, you're not having second thoughts are you?"
Sharon leaned up and kissed him with a strong kiss, "No, none at all. I just would rather not have to explain things to Rusty this morning. He just got home. I want us to tell him soon though. I don't want to keep secrets from him. "
"Ok, let's all go to dinner to that burger place he likes one night this week." Andy suggested and then smiled at her, "there is just one problem."
"What's that?" She asked him her resentence beginning to falter.
"You are wearing my shirt." He began running his hand to the top button while kissing her neck, "So just let me get it off of you and then if you are still ready for me to go I will. "
Sharon closed her eyes and smiled knowing that he wouldn't be leaving anytime soon.
It was almost an hour later when they came out of her room. Sharon shushing Andy and trying to get him quietly out of the condo.
"Morning Guys, Is Andy staying for breakfast."
Andy couldn't do anything but laugh at the completely shocked expression on Sharon's face
"Sure Kid thanks." He answered him, "Guess I wasn't quick enough." He whispered to Sharon
"Rusty, I'm sorry I didn't want…"Sharon started to say
'Sharon, its fine I'm a big kid. I can handle it. Besides if you didn't want me to know Andy probably shouldn't have left his badge and gun on the table next to yours. "
Sharon smiled thinking about that morning a year ago. Exactly one year ago today she thought. She couldn't believe how much her life had changed in a year. From being alone, to falling in love, adopting Rusty and now starting to build a future and a family with Andy. They had an appointment with a realtor later today to talk about selling both of their places and what they might want in a new place. Not a bad way to spend their anniversary she thought to herself.
Andy quietly opened the bedroom door, "Is it safe to come in?" he asked
"Yes, I was actually getting lonely." She said with a smile that she knew he couldn't resist.
"Oh, I think I can help you with that." He said coming in to the room carrying her a tray with breakfast
"Happy anniversary" he said placing it in front of her.
"You remembered" she smiled at him
"I will always remember"
"It looks great Andy thank you." She said as a small box on the corner of the tray caught her eye. "Andy, what's that?" She asked him her voice shaking a little
"That, Beautiful is the next step in building our family." He answered her picking the box up and opening it. "Sharon, I meant it when I said I'm in this to stay and when I said I know where this is headed. This is what I meant. I don't want to just buy a house and live with you. I want to marry you and spend the rest of my life making you happy. Will you marry me Sharon?"
"Andy, are you sure? I've been told I'm not the easiest person to be married to." She asked him
'First, I've been told the same thing. Second, I've been living with you for a year. I think I know exactly what I'm doing. Yes, I'm sure, this is what I want. I want you, me, all of our kids, grandkids, future grandkids to be one big family, and a dog, I want a dog too."
"Our kids?" she asked
"Yes our kids. No more your kids or my kids. They are our kids and our grandkids together, and our dog too"
"I've never had a dog" she said with a smile
"So, do you want a dog? And a husband, and a family, and a home?" He asked her with her eyes shinning
"Yes, Andy, I want it all. I want it all with you." She leaned to him and kissed him as he moved the breakfast tray out of the way. Neither of them caring about eating at the moment.
