"Just shut the hell up, you stupid bitch!" Dean shouted at me.

"Baby, I'm sorry! Dean honestly... please! I was just talking to-" I begged, trying to explain but got interrupted again.

"I've had it Mackenzie!" He raged, pacing the ground in front of me, the sound of his boots echoing as they stomped angrily backstage on the stone floor of the parking lot.

Earlier on this evening Dean had seen me talking to Kevin Owens. It was all very innocent and I was honestly just talking wrestling news with him, small talk to pass the time of day. I didn't even know Kevin very well. Dean however, saw what he wanted to see... which in his eyes and with his twisted mind was me flirting with another guy.

"YOUR NOTHING BUT A GOD DAMN WHORE!" He raged, his face now turning a shade of red as he worked himself up.

Without knowing how to fix the situation or what to say, my emotions got the better of me and I began to cry silent tears as my boyfriend bellowed out hurtful names at me.

Dean and I had been dating for a few months. It started off amazing. He would treat me like a princess and spoil me rotten but the more serious we became the more possessive he grew. I was slowly learning that there was not much difference between the Dean that he was in the ring and the Dean he was in real life.

"Dean please!" I cried. "I swear I... wouldn't do anything... behind your back!" I wept, finding it difficult to get the words out.

Walking back over to me, Dean invaded my personal space, his face just inches from mine as he overwhelmed me with intimidation. "It's over!" He whispered out coldly with absolutely no feeling in his voice.

My crying got loud on hearing his words.

"You don't... mean... that?!" I sobbed, trying to take his hand. Trying to see something of the man I thought I was once falling in love with.

"Try me!" Dean said pulling his hand away from me, barging passed as he knocked in to my shoulder and left me to fall to the floor in the impact, only able to watch him get in his truck and drive away with a screech of speed under his tyres.

I sat crumpled on the concrete and cried my heart out.

"Macks? ... Mackenzie, what's wrong?" I heard a soft voice from the entrance to the arena.

I looked up and saw Roman stood there. I must of looked like shit with my mascara all down my face. I tried to talk but my crying only allowed for sharp breaths to leave me.

Roman walked in and crouched down next to me. "Mackenzie take it easy... your asthma." He said in a caring way as he reminded me to look after myself.

"Dean... finished with... me!" I cried.

I heard Roman sigh as I wiped at my eyes. He looked at me concerned, then placed his hand on the side of my face and thumbed away a tear.

"You're too good for him Macks... far too good." He said with a small smile, his voice calm, deep and soothing.

The warmth from his hand felt electric on my skin. I looked in to his kind blue eyes. "I thought I was falling in love with him, I don't know who he is now, Ro'." I said trying to steady my breathing.

"He will see sense... and if he doesn't... Well, he is a Jack ass!" Roman said holding his hand out for me to take, helping me up to my feet.

I gave him a weak smile. "I'm sorry I must look awful." I said trying to wipe at my face again just in case I did have big panda eyes from my make-up.

Roman smiled down at me, he towered over my small frame. "You look beautiful Mackenzie... has Dean gone?" He then asked looking for the familiar looking truck that his friend owned.

I nodded. "Yeah he is gone." I replied sadly.

Roman tilted his head, pausing for a few seconds as he thought through what he was going to say next. "Did you want me to call you a cab... Or we could to share one back to the hotel... I'm just about ready to leave... maybe I could get you a drink? You look like you could do with one" He asked.

I smiled, rubbing at my ruined mascara yet again and sweeping my long red hair over my shoulder. "I must really look awful if I look like I need a drink." I replied.

"You're shaking... A drink might calm you down a bit." Roman replied as he looked at my hand which was trembling uncontrollably.

"I guess I am in need of a drink. That sounds great... I wish Dean was more like you Roman." I replied softly.

He smiled at me again. "C'mon... let's go call that cab huh?" He said placing his hand on the small of my back and escorting me out of the underground parking lot.

I felt Romans thumb gently rub against my skin as we walked. It was thoughtful and caring, almost like he was subconsciously caring for me without realising. The thought then struck me that he could possibly like me more than he should. In the early days, a good few years ago, I met Roman on the wrestling circuit as we trained and worked our way through various companys. We had never been on a date together but we had shared the briefest of kisses at a Christmas party. A one time occasion that had never been spoken of since it happened. WWE signed him up for NXT not long after so he went off to do that and I had to wait another six months before a contract was offered to me. Roman was out injured at the time and Dean took me under his wing. The rest was history in the making as when The Shield got the call up to appear on their first ever Raw, so did I. Dean asked me out the same evening. He had been slowly changing ever since.
