Chapter 1

Neville is sitting at the kitchen bench holding a tin, as Harry walks in and goes to the fridge. "Oh no, please don't tell me that's a new robot you're building." "Argh, no, it's a pencil holder I made dad for his birthday." Neville grabs the robot from the bench. "This is the new robot I'm building." "Pencil holder? It looks like an old soup can." "Because it was an old soup can. But now it's a heartfelt gift that I made for dad by removing the label that I made for dad by removing the label and writing a clever slogan on the side."

He hands to Harry. She reads the slogan. "Number one dad, number two pencil?" Neville laughs. "Well I also charmed it to magically sharpen pencils." He holds a pencil down the tin and a magical light shines up as a sharpening sound is heard. He pulls the pencil and blows away the smoke, as he shows it to Harry. Harry being sarcastic and says. "Yes, because it's so hard to do this." She demonstrates the sharpening of a pencil. "Then again, I didn't get him anything, so put my name on it." "Oh no, no, no, Harry, you're

not sharing credit for my gift this year." "Fine if that's the way you want it…but you're probably going to regret that decision." "I'm scared of you, Harry." She walks behind him. Harry gives him a death glare. "Stop staring at me! " Ron comes downstairs and takes a glass cat off the shelf. "Ron, you're not going to wrap that cat up and give it to dad for his birthday again are you?" "He loves getting this cat every year!" He thinks he has a collection. Hello, number eight." Ron takes a seat at the bench. "Ron, it's time you started

learning from your big bro. So I'm going to let you jump on board with my thoughtful and unique gift." "Wait, you'll let him put his name on your gift but not mine? Fine, Ron before you agree to that, I'm going to let you in on my gift." "What's your gift?" "I don't know yet…but you can be sure it's not gonna look like something you can find in a kindergarten class!" "Let's see: cat, soup can, nothing…I'm gonna stick with the cat." James and Lilly enter through the front door. "Hey, look who it is! The birthday guy, the

guy's whole birthday it is! Obviously I'm not ignoring it because I keep saying it: birthday, birthday, birthday…" "Oh look Lilly, the kids are talking about my birthday." "Okay, honey, I get it, I forgot to say happy birthday right when you woke up this morning." "Argh, daddy, Neville and I got you a gift together." She murmurs to Neville. "Play along or your robot gets it." Neville laughs. "I got ten of them!" He crosses over to James with present. "Dad, here's a gift from me. It's a homemade magic pencil holder. He hands

the gift to him and looks back at Harry. "Oh, oh! Perfect! It combines two of my greatest loves. Canned foods, and things that hold other things!" Neville chuckles: showing off to Harry. "Perfect?! I am so glad that you like it, dad." Neville sits down on the couch. Ron runs over and puts the cat back on the shelf and joins Neville. "Argh…that's from me too, dad." He whispers to Neville. "Seems to like it, so I am in." Harry leans to hug Neville and Ron, but Neville pushes a pillow in her face which prevents her from doing so.
