Obi-Wan lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. His thoughts were on his Master. It had been a couple days since his death, but only a few hours since his funeral.

He was a Jedi Knight now, and Anakin was his Padawan.

Would he be able to train the boy, help him fulfil his destiny?

Obi-Wan sighed, rolled onto his side, and closed his eyes.

Instantly, he was bombarded with images and flashbacks of his Master.

He saw Qui-Gon standing proud and tall, his robe and hair being blown around by the wind. He heard his deep, hearty laugh, heard the tenderness in his voice as he spoke his name. He saw Qui-Gon's smiling face, his blue eyes twinkling, his handsome, regal face kind and understanding.

His eyes snapped open, and he broke down in a flood of tears, which he had been holding back for the past few days.

"Obi-Wan."

He froze at the gentle baritone voice.

"Padawan, look at me."

Slowly, the young man turned around. His tears flowed even faster at the sight that met his eyes.

"Master?"

Qui-Gon smiled and nodded once.

"Yes, Padawan. I've been permitted one last goodbye."

The bluish image of Master Jinn crossed the room to the bed and gathered his Padawan in his arms one last time.

He felt just as real and strong as ever, just as he always had, and Obi-Wan clung to him tightly.

"You will make a fine Jedi Knight and Master to Anakin."

Unable to hold back any long, Obi-Wan burst into another round of sobs. He was overwhelmed by his Master's presence, scent, feel, arua, and warmth, and knowing this was the last time he'd ever have it was just too much for him to handle.

Qui-Gon held him more firmly and gently rocked him as he had when he was boy and had a nightmare.

"Don't leave me, Master," he choked.

He heard and felt his Master sigh.

"Oh, Padawan. I'll never leave you. Even though you won't be able to see or hear me, I'll always be watching over you. I'll always be with you, in your heart."

Obi-Wan held tighter to his Master's tunic.

"I love you, Master."

"I love you, too, Padawan, my Obi-Wan,... my son."

Obi-Wan nearly cried again. Qui-Gon had never called him that before.

"You must rest now. You've got a long day ahead of you tomorrow."

This time, he cried again.

Qui-Gon began gently rocking him again.

Finally, Obi-Wan cried himself to sleep in his Master's arms.

A small, tender, loving smile graced Master Jinn's face as he looked at the young man. He gently lay Obi-Wan back down onto his pillows.

"Goodbye, Obi-Wan."

He leaned down and placed a soft kiss on the young man's forhead.

"I'll always be watching over you," he whispered.

With that, Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn disappeared, truly becoming one with the Force.
